In December will be my first time going to the world. Recently I have been reading guidebooks, looking at videos on youtube, watching disney movies... I would like to know what you guys to before a trip to disney world. :happytv:

Hm. I don't do anything differently considering I spend everyday thinking about WDW anyway! haha. I guess watching Disney movies helps. I've been trying to watch the old ones that I've never seen lately.

Congrats on your first trip to the world! Don't forget to relax and have a good time! I get the feeling that first timers reading these boards can overplan. :)

I'm always in the mood for Disney! :rotfl:

Seriously, though. The fact that this is my first trip in 3 years help keep be pretty pumped. :) Visiting the DIS daily keeps the excitement brewing. And let's not forget the planning! Oh, the glorious, infuriating, giddy, hair-greying planning! :lmao:

Writing a pre-trip report helps too, from what I've been told. I'm making my first attempt at one right now (link in my sig!).

go to the mall and walk into the disney store and listen to the music. and these boards do a LOT to satisfy my hunger for disney. i actually leave in 19 days!!!!

I was dreaming about disney last night after a long session looking through the boards and the sample menus (from other websites). This puts me precisely in the mood - on the verge of obsession.

What really gets me going is talking about it to my family and my closest friend (who is also a Disney nut, closeted, but a nut nonetheless...).

I like to learn about all the "little" things that make Disney so special. The lore, the history, the little fun facts about the rides. It really makes me appreciate what they do down there - it's much more than a theme park. The designers and Imagineers think of EVERYTHING (well, except for maybe Stitch's Great Escape...) before they do it and it really helps you become immersed in the magic.

Watching my favorite movies doesn't hurt either... just picked up the Ugly Daschund the other day. =)

All I have to do is have a trip to plan, and I am in the mood! I started planning our January trip at 744 days out! Now I am 94 days out, 4 days away from my ADR's, and I can't think of anything else! :thumbsup2

Get the free planning DVD from Disney. It always gets my crew excited and you get good info out of it. Also look for the shows that play on the Travel Channel about Disney. Those are good also.

This Dec will be our third trip to Disney this year. We have the treehouse villas reserved for our summer vacation next year, planning on visiting the new BLT for Mardi Gras in 2011, and planning a trip to Disney Land California in summer 2012... we are always thinking about our next Magical Disney Vacation!

We start marking down the days on our calendar about 90 days out. That really gets everyone in the mood and all of us talking about what we're going to do when we get there. I also pull out the videos I've taken from the past trips. The kids love to see what they looked like when they were 2 then 4 then 5 then 6 then 8 then...you get the picture. They can sit and watch them for hours. We also pull out the current and past DVD planning videos.

Usually doesn't take much in our house to get in the mood for WDW:)

I start getting really excited when Disney World posts the calendars for the month we'll be going. I then can do last minute shifts of what day we'll be spending in what park and I start final preparations for dining reservations.

I suppose this may go without saying but browse the WDW website to see even more attraction descriptions, restaurant menus, photos of hotels, other things to see & do. Just another place to immerse yourself in the magic before you get there.

As others have said, I'm always in the mood for WDW.:goodvibes

I look through my pics from the year before, watch a slew of Disney movies and watch the planning DVD......and if I am taking friends, like this year, we get together and do some planning.

Booking a trip usually does it for me. :goodvibes

Seems like most of us have a harder time getting OUT of the mood than into it!

We plan "Disney Dinners" at periodic dates during our waiting months. These include whatever silly little decorations or themed menu items we can dream up. Of course, the table conversation revolves around all things WDW... memories & plans.

Countdown is very important too, and through a long wait we like to remind one another when we hit a milestone. Seriously, we have some long waits and to be able to say "HOORAY - it's now less that 400 days" helps. :rotfl:

We look thru old pictures of previous trips, read all the guidebooks, keep up-to-date on the Dis, and have just started a new tradition. Our family is going to watch a different Disney movie every Friday night till we leave for our trip. :)

I've recorded many of the Disney parks shows from the Travel Channel, Discovery Channel, Fine Living Network, etc on to a DVD. Then I can watch shows about the parks whenever I want.

I apologize in advance if this offends anyone, but......

my husband calls it my "Disney porn." :lmao:
