How do you fit your cruise stuff into your bags?

Does rolling clothes really take up any less space than folding?
I get the wrinkle protection.
I did a test in a 13x9 cube and was able to get more t-shirts in when folded as if they were going into a drawer than when I rolled them. I expect it all has to do with how tight you're willing to roll and the size of the items. Also, if you have a cube that's just a little bigger than your t-shirts, you could get some underwear or socks in the sides, but that might wrinkle the shirts, so maybe then, rolling would be more beneficial.

So, the answer is it depends ... on your clothes and the size of the space you're filling.

I think the wrinkle protection is a bit overblown. Stuff still gets wrinkled, but less so. I do think that it takes up less space, but I tend to bring lightweight, moisture wicking clothing so the difference is negligible except for the long pants.

On the flip side, we do Comic-Cons. Traveling with a large, essentially unpackable costumes, one for each day for several days, for 3 of us? Holy cow. Add boxes for wigs and accessories. I've drawn the line to cons we can drive to. I don't even want to think about flying with all that. Our mini-van is packed to the ceiling as it is.

I generally stick to smaller, more local cons...but yeah. Anymore I figure I'm doing pretty well if a full costume can be stored in one 18- or 24-gallon tote. I don't even know what I'd do if I wanted to cosplay at an event that was flying distance away.

/fistbump back at you!

I mostly do steampunk/Victorian garb - big skirts, hats, etc, with lots of accessories. One dd prefers D&D and gamer "warriors" with weapons, etc, and another is all about the anime, including crazy wigs that defy physics. For someone who can usually travel carryon only, this is a huge departure for us!
