About 3 years ago a woman I worked with was moving to Hawaii. She had a car she needed to get rid of and since she owed so much on it we worked out a deal where I would just make her payments for her. There wasn't and still is no question of trust in the issue. We drew up a contract and had it notarized and have kept in touch on occasion to keep each other informed. She moved a couple of times after that and always called to give me her contact info. I spoke with her last spring when she said she was moving back to MS. After the hurricane I called to see if she was alright and wasn't able to contact her. I called the hospital she was working at and they told me she had evacuated to Atlanta with her boys and had decided to stay there. They didn't have any further contact info. I've waited a while to see if she'd call but she hasn't. The car will be paid off later this month and since the bill comes here to my house the title will come here too. I'll need her to sign off on the title. We've kept the car licensed in MS because the state of VA says she has to register it here herself or provide me with a bill of sale and title even though I have a limited power of attorney that says I can register it in any state I wish. Anyway, I have to find this woman to finalize everything and I've run into dead ends everywhere.
I tried Google and Yahoo people search and only found her former address. She doesn't have a number listed in Atlanta and the one thing we left out of the contract was alternate contact info. Where do I go from here? There is no reason she'd want to be hiding from me as she doesn't owe me any money and I have a legal document giving me the right to possess the car. I really think that in all the stress of evacuating and relocating she's just forgotten and may have lost the documents with my contact info. I'm just stumped as to how to go about finding her now. Any ideas?
