HOw do you feel about false rape accusations

I will only say this...I think this happens much more often than people believe.

Rape/se*ual abuse/molestation charges are looked upon in our society sometimes worse than murder. Getting this type of a charge filed against you or even an investigation into something of this nature is something these people will never get away from. And it typically doesn't matter if they aren't found guilty. It's a stigma and then the gossip of "it's just a matter of time before he does get caught...and "i wonder how many other people this person has hurt and never come forward."

I think people in a certain state of mind may be looking for the ultimate revenge in some of these cases....well this is it.

Very, very sad.:sad2:

What an evil woman. I can *almost* understand her deciding to "teach" her friends a lesson, but when other innocent people became involved, she should have put the breaks on it immediately.

I can see how a female teenager can accuse a boy of this to either get themselves out of trouble or to cause trouble. Heck some adults are capable of this too.

So freaking scary. I'm sure in the heat of the moment (when they make up the lie) they aren't thinking these boys/men lives are literally in their hands.

Oh, I just LOVE THEM.... :cloud9:

:confused3 Sorry, what other answer is there but to hate them? :confused3

This happened to an acquaintance of ours. His teen-aged daughter's "friend" accused him. He was arrested, lost his job, his children, friends, spent thousands of dollars in legal fees, and ended up losing his home. Right before the trial the girl admitted she made the whole thing up as she was mad at the daughter because she was talking to a boy she liked.

:scared1::eek:

Can you say Ben Roethlisberger - he's got screwed (no pun intended) by false accusations.

I am not saying nothing happened in his case - but if you climb in the cage with a lion to pet it and get a picture with it and then it bites you don't complain.

I think girls who do this should be brought to trial. It just happened at a local college. Disgusting.

What do you mean by this?

I don't know what I hate more, the people who falsely accuse or the people who still treat the person badly once they are freed of their charges.

Sorry, but this brings to mind another set of circumstances -

Old high school boyfriend made a mistake, slept with a crafty young thing who lied about her age - turns out she was below the age of consent (but only just), he was over (but only just). He broke up with her, she got mad and cried rape. Her mommy and daddy pressed charges, he went to jail. Served his time, and is now out. This was a long time ago, but he must spend the rest of his life registered on the sexual offender list in Montana.

Now I will agree he was a dummy. But he doesn't deserve that. I know this guy, he wouldn't hurt anyone - if she had said "stop", he would have stopped. He will be punished by society forever because she was mad and wanted revenge for his breaking up with her.

ITA! In this case, it's absolutely disgusting that someone would make a false rape report, however I think there are many rapes, that end up being called a "false report," even though a rape did occur. Many victims feel too overwhelmed or just want to put it behind them and don't want to have to deal with the drama of going to court ect.

This happened to a friend of mine in HS. A girl wanted to go out with him and put herself in such a postion as to be alone with him. She came on to him but he wasn't interested, so he left. Later that night the sherriff was on his doorstep telling his parents that he had "raped" this girl. They took him away in handcuffs. Now, I lived in a very very small town. Everyone knew about this within 12 hours. Eventually, the girl admitted she made it all up to punish him for not wanting to go out with her. But even so, many people never trusted this boy again. He was completely ruined and eventually had to move away to start a new life, leaving his whole family behind. :guilty:

The girl never suffered one ounce of punishment for her crime.

I know a couple of men this happened too. Sadly, in both cases neither had actually slept with the accuser. One was a girl who had a steady boyfriend, got drunk at a frat party and slept with a frat brother. When she got caught, she blurted out a name she knew (not the guy she slept with). Guy was arrested, suspended from classes, and kicked off campus housing. About 2 days later she broke down and admitted that he wasn't the guy and the sex was actually consensual (but only after she couldn't ID the guy she named in a line up). The other was a teacher, accused by a female student who he had reprimanded for passing notes. It was very much a witch trial - she and her friends all decided to accuse him of various sexual offenses, none of which happened. It wasn't until about a year after the trial that one of the girls admitted that they made it up to "punish" him. Unfortunately I think it took another couple of years to clear it up completely.

I don't think any of the girls were ever reprimanded. I think they should have been (this was all around 20 years ago). When this happened, there was more concern about the girls' mental health than justice.

Speaking of, did anything ever happen to that stripper who falsely accused the Duke LAX players of rape?

I think it they admit to lying or if proven by the police, that they should be able to charge her with "something" and she should get some sort of jail time / community service and have to carry a criminal record around with her.

Too often, the guy gets all the bad press / opinions and even if the girl fesses up to lying about it the guys reputation is shot.

What's sad is that real victims are often so afraid of turning in their molesters for fear of reprisal or not being believed, yet we have these bold pieces of crap flinging around false accusations left and right.

I think they should be prosecuted harshly.

False accusation of a sexual crime by anyone over 18 should carry a much harsher penalty then it does. I think it should be a felony so it stays on their record permanently.

I think its an awful, horrible thing to do.

However, I don't see these women (or men) being heavily prosecuted over it. If anyone makes the hoops to jump through to file charges against a (real) rapist fewer women would come out about being raped. Most rape victims DON'T report it as it is, if we make it any harder to report, I'm not sure any legitimate rapes would be reported which is a very very bad thing.
