How do you ever get through that last 7-10 days?

Okay, seriously, time has FLOWN since we started planning our trip 6-7 months ago, and now suddenly we leave 10 days from today and time seems to be draaaaaaaging. I want to leave NOW! I'm starting to pack a few things, trying to make sure all loose ends are tied up (we're going to be gone a total of 17 days so quite a few details at home to attend to, including the care of our cat, our garden, lawn care etc). But... quite frankly, I feel like a little impatient kid waiting for Christmas, and I wanna lay on the floor and throw a tantrum crying, "How much longer???? I wanna go NOW!"

This is the time period I do disney crafts! Decorating the magic bands, doing disney tshirts. We also tend to watch a lot of disney movies, and eat recipes we picked up at the world. But mostly, I just try to go back enough that I dont miss it... as much.

This will be my first trip in 24 years :) But sadly, also likely my last. Highly doubt I'll ever convince DH to go again in the summer, and since he's a teacher and can't get time off any other time of year...

It is always the opposite for me. That last week flies by. I always have a lot to do before we leave for any vacation and no time to get it all done in.

And it's funny, that's how I thought I would feel! The last two weeks beforehand, we have/had 4 medical appointments scheduled, plus swimming lessons, riding lessons, general life...not to mention all these to dos, I was wondering how I'd ever get it done and yet... here I am, feeling like I'm twiddling my thumbs, lol.

I love my job but I love our WDW trips better! The last week, and especially the last day, for me at work seem to drag on forever. Ill look at the clock thinking an hours gone by and its only been 3 minutes. I just lean forward and bang my head on the desk LOL

I also feel like those last days drag! We do things like plan a "Disney dinner", which is basically a meal of homemade macaroni and cheese, cornbread, veggies and dip, and homemade Mickey rice krispie treats. (the first time we brought the kids to Disney World, we ate at Chef Mickey's, and these were their favorite items on the buffet. Even though the kids are much older, and we don't even do Chef Mickey on every trip, this is still a tradition for us!) We watch Disney movies on each of the last few nights before we go, and take our time packing. Enjoy the anticipation!!!

Considering I usually leave everything until the last minute, I tend to panic away that last week. It feels like it goes by in an hour.
Yes!

OP - You must be more organized than me. I feel like there's never enough time as we get closer to the trip, and I start to feel uneasy ... like I'm forgetting something.

Maybe this will help? It's always my goal that the house be thoroughly cleaned before we go on a trip. I just REALLY like coming home to a clean house. So add that to your list?

Print out all your spreadsheets/plans, and start corralling everything that MUST GO.

Basically, channel that nervous energy somewhere.

During the last week I just wrap stuff up at work. On the last day I pack. It drives my girlfriend crazy that I wait until the last minute to pack

I'm am uber-organized, so we're all packed with suitcases by the door at least 48-72 hours ahead of time lol. We usually have a special dinner each night and then watch Disney movies/cartoons in the 5-7 days before we leave.

I love and agree with the manic cleaning house tip from itchin2go! I make sure the house is super clean too, with clean freshly made beds to fall into when we get home.

Also, I walk walk walk off that crazy feeling of waiting. It's good prep for all the walking and keeps my trip anxiety down. I get pretty crazy before any trave, so the exercise helps take the edge off and helps me sleep.

HAVE A WONDERFUL TIME!

We have 6 days, and I'm in a panic. I had to work extra the last few weeks at work which threw off my planning, shopping, packing.
So I'm going to shop (did Amazon Prime Pantry last night), clean my house, and start packing.
I printed all our touring plans.

Several years ago now when I was returning to Disney for the first time in 25 years - I, too, thought the last week before I left dragged on to no end.... Work was torture, TV was boring, couldn't sleep.... Bag had been packed the weekend before... it felt like forever.

Now that I've been a regular since then - those last few days fly by as I am desperately trying to as much done at work as I can, house cleaning, packing, etc! I still struggle sleep the night before my plane flight! I don't think that will ever go away!

Our trip is in September and we started planning back in January. I think I will have the same issue. Luckily my kids birthday is the week before so that should help time go faster and school starts for them. Although they are going from half day pre-k to full day pre-k so for me I will be home without them that week before we leave, may make time stop all together :-(
