Hi,
My family is going to WDW for Christmas and i know it will be busy..I have a five year old DS and a twelve year old DS so my question is to you how do you keep the kids occupied while waiting in line for a ride???I would imagine we will have some waits but my youngest son doesn't stand long very well...
Thanks

I have read on these boards to let them carry a kids fanny pack and put things in it to keep them occupied. Mini bubbles-gymboree has some small ones or like the wedding bubbles, snacks, a small deck of cards(they have disney ones at wal-mart in the party section.) I know there are many other ideas but these are just a few off the top of my head. Good luck

We are leaving in 8 days and our fanny bags are packed.....so let me list off the things that are in them for you.....I have a 5 year old two 12 year olds and a 17 year old..

Five year olds pack...
Chapstick
tube of bubbles
2 pull back and go little race cars
a plastic frog
a plastic snake
a small handheld cinderella
a small pack of crayons
a mini pad of activities
a small dry erase practice letter cards
a round thing of bubble tape (there is no gum sold in WDW)
sunglasses
a pen
a carabiner clip that has digital watch on it
small bottle of anibacterial hand wipe stuff

12 year olds pack
small flashlight hanging from it
chapstick
bubbles
silly putty
hand held electronic game (cheap ones from target..NOT GAMEBOYS)
a teeny weeny chess game
a couple of markers
small word search book
a carabiner clip that has digital watch on it
small pack of playing cards
roll of gum
sunglasses
small bottle of anibacterial hand wipe stuff

Hope this helps!

We brought a small hand-held Simon game the last trip and it kept us adults occupied in every line - it was great ( I had actually brought it for my son because of the lights). I also had a pack of Disney playing cards. Bubbles are a must for us but we didn't use them very often - the Simon game playing got in the way of doing anything else. And kids are silly creatures, my two "kids" (my DH and his friend, an Army Captain mind you) got a huge kick out of radioing each other back and forth with jokes, updates on where they were in line (one step ahead of the other one) on our two ways - they only worked when we were this close. It was silly and I appologize to anyone who was bothered by them - as I said "kids" can be silly. But my point being that if two grown adults got such a huge kick out of this silliness, then your kids will probably too. Cheap two-ways do nothing for true communication needs in the parks but they will work in this manner.

castlegazer....it is nice to know that other people live with "big kids" in their family as well!! Love the simon idea.....i am on my way to get this "big kid" one!

we are going in 9 days, and as posted in some responses above, I think the hand held electronic games are going to be a hit for waiting/trip etc. My 6 year old DS LOVES his dad's Yahtzee game, so I bought him one for the trip. My DD, 4, is getting the Disney version of Yahtzee (Mickey Mouse, Minnie etc.) I also bought the Simon as a clip on type thing and think I'll take that for all of us!

Thanks to the above poster for the great ideas to include as "other stuff"!!

Hi Again,
Thank you all for your wonderful idea's this will help out alot...Where do you purchase the small games like simon and others???
Thanks again

I got the Simon game at our Wal-Mart. Try any of those stores like Tarjaaay (you know Target) and the like. You know, I think I overthought this the last trip because we just ended up talking, playing the Simon game, goofing around and people watching. My DS ate a lot in lines too - so that's always a good suggestion - snacks, snacks and more snacks. Because I overthought it I think I took too much into the parks in our packs that wasn't really necessary like the cards and I had some chalk too and pads to write on that were never used. Bubbles did come in handy when waiting for the barber shop as we had room there (outside while DH stood in line) to play with them.
