I use the Torani flavored syrups in my hot chocolate. My favorites are peppermint and raspberry, and I also have carmel and hazelnut. Lots of other flavors, and some available as sugar-free.
.
I'm a purist. Hot milk or cream with freshly whipped cream is my want.
Sitting outside with my grrls and ogling the cute ones walking through the Neiderdorf.
I make it with cocoa powder, almond milk, sugar and vanilla and I add either a dash of cinnamon or some almond Redi-Whip topped with some crushed candy canes. If I can get my hands on Dandy's peppermint marshmallows, that's even better
PSA: Please stop using hot water in Hot Chocolate. PLEASE. Whole milk only. Sometimes I'll get it a gas station. I make the cocoa, add only half the water that comes out of the making, full up the rest of the cup with half and half creamer and vanilla ones too. OMG its soooo good.
Here in MA that's the only way I grew up drinking hot chocolate: With Marshfmallow Fluff on top! So good! (Although I haven't had it that way in years since the Swiss Miss type packets came on scene. Growing up we used Nestle powder with milk or Hershey or Bosco syrup...)
I make my own, with whole milk, stirred into sugar, cocoa, and some good madagascar vanilla, heated to a simmer on the stove. So good, I can't imagine adding anything else other than some whipped cream on top!
