How do you do the South Beach Diet?

How do you follow the SBD plan?

  • I follow the menu plans the way they are written in the book.

  • I just eat from the list of foods.

Alright- I've read the South Beach Diet book and they kept STRESSING the fact that this plan is VERY flexible and fits any lifestyle. So I got to the foods that you can eat and foods to avoid. Then I got to the days and days of menus they have laid out. I'm thinking those are suggestions, from everything else they said in the book.

So my question is this-

Do you follow the menu plans to a T?

Or

Do you just choose foods from the approved list?

We use some of the recipes from the book, and we have also adapted some of our favorite dishes to be South Beach Friendly.

I just follow that foods that I can eat list.

I follow the list of the foods that you can eat, and I also bought the book "Good Carbs Bad Carbs" that goes with the South Beach diet book, it gives you a better idea of what you can eat all the time, some of the time and what you should avoid.

I follow the food list. I don't like menu plans

I follow the food list as well. As has been mentioned, I just take the recipes that we would normally eat and tweak them so that they are SBD friendly. The only recipe I have used from the book is the quiche recipe when I was in Phase 1.

This program is truly flexible. I wouldn't be doing it at all if it was complicated or if I had to follow the menus from the book.
