I am somewhat computer literate, but there is still a lot I don't know how to do.

How do you post a link here on the DIS?

If I have an article saved in my own Documents that I want to post here, without having to retype the whole thing, how do I do that?

Thanks all you "Bill Gates" out there!

I just do a copy and paste of the web address (URL).
Here is the link to this thread by just doing a copy and paste.

If you want to give the thread a title then you can use the http button (under the bold, italic underline buttons) when you post. It will prompt you for the address and a name. Then it looks like this:

To do that, DD, you would either have to upload it to a Net site and link it, or, do a 'copy and paste' of the article itself, as you would do in a word processor.

Copy/paste is the most direct way to reference some website link.

If you have saved some article as text on your PC, there is no longer a url involved. You would just highlight the area and do copy/paste of the text.

One issue if you store links for articles or recipes is that the link only works as long as the website it references still contains that information. Difference being maybe a 1-time use for some discussion you are having here and want to perhaps post a reference. If you want to save something for future use, it is always better to save the actual content (not the url) to your PC.
