How do you do Kali River Rapids?

I'll admit it. I've never gone on Kali River Rapids because I don't want to run around with wet clothes and shoes for the rest of the day. I also don't feel like carrying an extra set of clothing. Anyone have any tips on how to stay dry so I can try this attraction out? I don't want tbecause we usually park hop.

LOL, no help here. With many visits to AK over the years, no Kali for me either. I think I would love the ride, have done the rafts in other parks years ago, and would love the theming I am sure, just do not want to be soaked to the bone. Don't mind getting Splash Mt wet (damp), but Kali is a soaker ride. I know i have read to put your shoes and socks in a Ziplock and put in the center holder in the raft for such things, and wear a poncho too. I know in the cooler/cold months, they have jet driers as you exit the ride. Enjoy if you go.

You could put on a poncho. I have in the past. You will see some poeple with them on and others who wished they did. Now your shoes on the other hand might get wet. You could take a pair of flipflops and change shoes before going on ride and change them back after. Try to bring a plastic bag to put the wet ones in.
I really don't like to walk in wet soggy shoes all day so I do change into flipflops before and keep my shoes under my poncho while riding. It is really a fun ride and I will ride it when I go in October.

I treat AK almost like a water park because we love Kali River Rapids!! My boys wear bathing suits (they look like regular shorts, really) and I wear usually two camisole type tank tops layered -- (does that make sense? hard to explain) -- usually a black and gray, NOT white!! Be sure to wear shorts or pants that won't be see-thru when you come off the ride (i.e., denim or dark colored shorts).

Also I wear my Teva walking sandals and the boys wear their walking sandals...this way no squishy feet in the park all day. Usually we're dry within an hour after the ride and since we go in September it's a welcome relief to be wet in the heat!

I've seen many people do the poncho thing, too...one woman on our trip had a poncho on, the hood up and was totally annoyed when she got splashed with water. I don't know why she was on the ride in the first place.

Last year there was 0 minutes wait at Kali, we walked right on and the CM let us stay on the ride.....three times in a row, we were more than drenched by the time we got off, but we loved it!!

We bring in our backpacks which holds our ponchos and flip flops. Afterwards we just change and throw everything back in our backpacks. We take these items for all the parks just incase we get caught in a big rain storm. I don't know how many times we were in EPCOT and there was a big rain storm and we had to walk in it and our shoes were soaked. It is just easier for us to bring these items and they don't weigth our backpack down at all and your prepared for Kali (which I love this ride)

I have not had a problem with getting my shoes wet on the ride. I just put them up on the middle foot rest area. As far as your clothes getting wet - the last time I rode I didn't get wet at all...my DH on the other hand was soaked to his skivvies.

One of the things that I have seen people do in lieu of ponchos - giant trash bags - then they just throw them away after the ride. Doesn't help your hair, but seemed to keep their clothes dry.

We usually like the cooling off, since we go in May and the past two times its been in the 90's.

Hope you give it a try - it is a fun ride - just remember to use fast pass on this one. The ride line can look deceptively short - we learned a 45 minute lesson!

Went on it in June of 2002 and got soaked. However, the second time it was raining anyway, so the Poncho did not help. After the ride, I got rained on, and stayed wet for 3 days because of rain....very uncomfortable.

Yep, wear poncho's & flipflops. They also have a hugh fan that you can stand infront of to help dry off.

At the urging of my hubby and little one I rode Kali River Rapids when we went last month; I had on denim shorts and a t-shirt. When we rode this ride in the past they let you take your shoes off and put them in the covered pouch thing in the middle of the raft but now they require you to keep your shoes on so we did. Well, like every other time I got soaked and they stayed reasonably dry I was so uncomfortable that I resorted to buying socks, shorts and undies in one of the shops. That ride cost me over $50 bucks!! I know I wont' ride it again. It's fun yes, but very short and very wet - not worth it for me.

You will get absolutely soaked - so we always make it our last ride in the park. It's not so bad to be dripping wet when you're heading back to the hotel to change anyway. The last time we were there we stayed on 3 times in a row because there was no wait!! Talk about soaked!!

Sandals and clothing that breathes and dries quickly. Shoes are the worst so we are sure to wear waterproof sandals that day. There is holding area for shoes and other items, but I've seen that area get wet as well.

I usually wear a pair of nylin shorts the day i go to AK and they dry fast shoes I just leve up on the foot rest and they don' tpop off . As for putting them in the bin
I don't think they let you take them off any more as that creates less room for peoples bags and creates bin hogs. I know when i rode the ride once one whole family puit all their shoes in the bin and their was hardly any room for my bag and I and someone esle had to hold to hold the cover down

I also ride this first thing and also wer my nylon pullover jacket that I carry around my waist while in park and it usually keeps me dry I have lucked out and not gotten soaked !!

I i don't ride first thing I ride about a half hr before I leave that way I can go back to car and go to hotel and change

Aww, NYDisneyMom, you're no fun. If everyone stops wearing white at KRR, I'll have to go back to standing at the bottom of the BB slides!

It really depends where you're sitting on the ride and there's no way of knowing exactly where to sit when you get on. When we rode, my husband and I got a few sprinkles, my son and girlfriend, on the other hand got soaked!

yeah....you AND my husband! Cracks me up when you see women coming off the ride with their arms crossed in front of them. Hello?? What'd ya expect would happen when wearing a white t-shirt!!

Kali is one of Disney's big disappointments. They cheaped out and took installed an off-the-rack amusement park ride available all over the country. We rode it when it first opened and haven't been back since. There are far better things to do at Disney, so I can't help you.
