For the first time ever, I attempting to put together a gift basket. I CVS and have lots of items stockpiled. We asked the grandparents this year not to give us anything. They all are on very fixed incomes and don't have the money. But I would like to give them some of these everyday things that I know they would appreciate (tissues, toothpaste, mouthwash, etc).

I bought baskets, shredded paper filling, nice bows and a roll of cellophane. Now, how do I actually put it all together. It is a LOT of stuff and I would like them to be able to see a majority of it without having to take it apart (so it is easy to take home). The basket is too big to just sit in the middle of the wrap and fold up all four sides, so I will have to wrap the cellophane around it somehow? Thanks for any pointers on how to put these things together!

The one time I did a large basket, I actually did set it down in the middle of a huge "x" made of two sheets of celophane wrap and collected them tightly at the top with a bow after I filled the basket. I used some colored shredded paper I made myself with a paper shredder as the basket's cushion.

I think it was heat-activated shrink-wrap celophane, since I remember using a blow dryer.

Make sure you have larger items at the back then graduate them forward from biggest to smallest. The smaller items closest to you. If need be put a small cardboard box under the shredded paper at the front to hold up the smaller things higher. Much more stable than just paper. We use the shrink wrap cellophane.

I love doing gift baskets. Have fun with it! :)
