How do you decide where to dine??

I think this is the hardest part about planning the vacation. We're going in July and I want to get my decisions nailed down so when the 90 day window opens up I can call right away.

With the park hours not being posted this far in advance how do you do it? Do you plan on which park you are going to each day and plan around that. Or do you choose your dining experience and plan you park days accordingly? We are thinking about doing mostly breakfasts as our sit down meal because we felt rushed last year doing mostly dinners.

In December we made no PSs and played it by ear. Although I was nervous about it at first we did get into most of the places we wanted when we wanted to go. How do I know what time I want to eat 4 months from now?

So...how do you do it? I know we are going to the Hoop Dee Doo so I'll make ressies for that and then the Princess Breakfast is another must do which definately needs a PS...but what about the rest?

It shouldn't be this stressful to plan a vacation

I make just a few ressies, but mostly wing it. I know for my next trip I want to try Jiko and hit Le Cellier and Teppanyaki again, but since we are going in the regular season, I don't think getting a PS will be too difficult.

I usually try 2 new places each time. Other than those 2 we tend to just wing it. I don't like to over schedule. I feel like I look at my watch too much rather than enjoy myself. We have been lucky enough to get in to some restaurants without PS. Cape May clam bake and 1900 breakfast are on my list for the next trip. Now I just have to book my next trip!!

I would choose now and edit later :)

Decide what restaurants you'd like to try this trip, make the PS and edit them as you get more details about your trip.

PSs are very easily changed, last trip I changed our PS at 50's prime time cafe five times and WDW dining was very accommodating.

HTH:)

We normally plan our PS based on the park we will be in, the only exception is travel days and our last evening. Our last evening tradition is dinner at the Yachtsmen Steakhouse and on travel days we normally have counter service or dinner at our resort. If we need to change our plans once we arrive in the World, we go to guest relations or call WDW-dine. Here is our list of PS for our April trip:

Day 1 Dinner: Jiko
Day 2 Dinner: Capt'n Jacks
Day 3 Lunch: 50's Primetime Cafe
Day 4 Breakfast: Boma
Dinner: Cape May Cafe
Day 5 Breakfast: Boma
Dinner: Rose and Crown
Day 6 Dinner: LTT
Day 7 Dinner: Yachtsmen Steakhouse
Day 8 Breakfast: Boma

Our other meals will be counter service at the Mara (AKL), Tusker House, Caseys, Kringla Bakeri, Backlot Express, Earl of Sandwich, etc.

I plan out which park we will be at each day and then plan our PS's around that. We do food court for breakfast except for maybe one character meal and then always do a sit down for dinner. We go in late Nov/early Dec so the parks close early and we eat after most everything is closed (7pm).

I have to agree. I try to estimate park schedules and eat based on what park we will be in each day. We have a handful of "must do's" and always select a few new spots as well. I would rather have to make a few changes then to possibly miss out on a favorite restaurant. The hard part becomes when Disney changes already published park hours. That is when the scheduling gets tricky. ENJOY!!! princess: pirate: :earboy2:
