How do you deal with extra firm/hard beds at some resorts? On our last stay we spent a few nights at the Poly(great beds) and then spent 10 nights at our favorite resort WL. After the recent rehab at WL, I was way disappointed in the beds. I found them to be really uncomfortable and too firm( I know this a matter of personal taste.) I guess I have gotten to used to heavenly beds. On our last trip I swore I would never return again without at least an egg crate pad. I am hoping to be pregnant on the next trip and good sleep is critical( but even if I am not, a good night sleep is essential to keep up with my 3 and six year old.) I am thinking of bringing an egg crate pad or mattress pad, but I know I will look like a freak to bell services/housekeeping. ( I already bring a box fan for white noise). Anyone else feel my woes and have a solution.

Also, anyone who has not stayed at WL, but is considering it, PLEASE don't let this post discourage you. It is an UNBELIEVABLE resort. We are crazy about it. I just have alot of difficulty sleeping at many places.

I like the firm beds at the resorts.. but you do have a good idea of the egg carton cushions for those that do not like them. I know my DD's like their own pillows and usually (try to remember) to bring them.

I bring a memory foam mattress pad for this EXACT reason! The beds at the Polynesian are heavenly and my back loves them! But the beds at POP and POFQ kill my back. I have a very hard time sleeping on firm mattresses so while the resorts were nice, I was super-cranky from a lack of sleep. I used a memory foam mattress topper for my Easter trip to POFQ and I slept soundly! You can pick up one of these at WalMart, Target or even Ross stores. They pack very nicely into a garment bag. I'm bringing my queen size one when I stay at the AKL in December.

FYI, I submitted this tip to the folks who write the Passporter guides and it won as 'Tip of the Month' :thumbsup2

Switch your reservation to the Dolphin or Swan. Both resorts are well known for having the best beds on-site.

I agree.

The Swan & Dolphin often has great rates that cost about as much as a Disney Moderate.

They are real 4 star hotel.

Deluxe but not as expensive as Disney's deluxe resorts.

The heavenly beds are ...well heavenly.

The Grotto pool and hot tubs are fun and relaxing.

Plus Epcot and MGM are just a short boat ride or walk away!

From Epcot hop on the monorail and head on over to the MK!

I pullled back the mattress pad at WL and discovered the problem........ the mattress is made from solid redwood!!!
