I made a paper chain for the kids. We tear off one link every day, and when there are none left we are going to Mickey's! I have the number of days to go marked on my calendar. We have been trying to watch all the movies again too. How do you guys all count down to your departure date?

32 days to go - yippee!!!!!!

I do the countdaown on the calendar and I also have the ticker on here.

58 days!!!!!

Mouse track. It is set up on my desktop. It counts down to my date and every once in a while the monorail zooms by.

I love it.

We have done a paper chain - removing one loop each day - 15 days before.
I write a little something inside each loop.

Such as -

Did you pack your gameboy & a book yet ? (day 4)
What ride at MK do you want to go on first ? (day 10)
What do you want for dinner tonight ? (day 1)
DAY 0 - I just have a picture of Mickey and friends - we leave in the wee hours of the AM. Day 0 is placed in the car.

That sounds really cool. Can you give me the website for that? Thanks.

I made a calendar on Word and downloaded a bunch of Disney clip art and fonts to jazz it up. Each day has the number of days left on our trip. Each morning before breakfast (this thing is hanging on my fridge) DS2 and I put an X through the previous days box and I tell him how many more days. Then he claps his hands like crazy!

Another vote for the paper chain..Dbf was deprived as a child and never made one so when I mentioned the idea he went crazy for it...that's right I'm currently sitting in my room surrounded by a 297 looped paper chain!!! What am I going to do with him??? :rotfl:

We have a dry erase board on the side of our fridge facing the door into our garage. We see it when we walk in the door. It says "_____ days to Disney World" and we change it every morning.

I've done paper chains...but my favorite is the countdown I did last April. I took a poster board for each of my children and pasted 20 Disney pics on it from flyers, brochures, magazines, etc. Then I covered each pic w/ a colored piece of construction paper and placed a # on it. We then worked it like a lift-the-flap Advent Calendar. Each morning my children would come into our bedroom and we'd go the wall where their posters were hanging and pull off the next numbered flap. They couldn't wait to see the pic underneath. I had fun preparing it...and we all enjoyed the opening!

We're going back in December....they want another lift the flap count down!!! I better start assembling pictures now!

I use the paper chain. I put other stuff on it too, like the 1st day of school, grandparents day, birthdays, etc............ my son loves to use scissors to cut the chain. You know the part in Hercules where the witches say "whats wrong with these scissors?" well lets just say I hear that every morning. :flower:

We cut out and numbered 101 Mickey heads and taped them on the wall. Each morning the kids take turns taking down the next number. They really enjoy doing it and it has helped my DS start learning his numbers. :)
