:confused:Hi everyone. We just bought a new stove that has the radiant heat burners (no coils). We bought the squirt on cleaner, but are we suppossed to use that everytime we cook ? We do a lot of cooking so that will get very expensive quick! Can we use a general purpose cleaner with a sponge or paper towel? Thanks for your help. DH already wants to take it back:sad2:

We just use water on a dishcloth for everyday cleaning and then once or twice a week use the special cleanser if needed. If something boils over or there is really a mess, then I would use the cleanser.

I love my flat cooktop-much better than the old one-I was down to one burner that worked.

Hope that helps!

Water and magic erasers... those will work wonders. :)

I use magic erasers, wipe it like I do the counters when it is not to messy. if there are burnt on stuff I use a flat blade scraper.

I use a micro fiber cloth to buff it up.......in between and after cleaning. Never tried magic erasers.......:confused3 do you use the white ones?

So no one uses a cleaner? How do you get the greasy messes clean?

I use what ever spray cleaner I have on hand. The only thing I won't use is Clorox Clean Up. Once in a while I will get Dh to use the cleaner made for the stove top. We've had our for years and the spray cleaner hasn't hurt it at all. I made burgers tonight. After the top cooled down I went to town with the spray cleaner. ;)

Baking soda and vinegar works better than the cleaner specifically for smooth tops. Mine is five years old and still looks great.

For baked on spills, I couldn't live without Cerama-Bryte and the yellow scrubbing pad that comes with it. I was worried that it would scratch the finish, but it doesn't. For everyday clean up, I just use Windex. Our top is black, so wiping with a sponge leaves streaks.

My radiant cooktop is white and light grey so you can imagine how hard it is to keep clean. :sad2:

Most of the time I clean it with either Fantastik or Multi-surface Windex. Those take care of the greasy messes. I have some of the Weiman Cooktop Cleaner that I use for stuff the Fantastik and Windex won't budge. But I use the Weiman's so sparingly that I only have to buy a bottle about once a year. And for really stuck-on, cooked-on stuff that won't come off with the other cleaners and elbow grease, I'll use a razor blade. That works really well, just be careful not to scrape the glass with it.

I have never thought to try the Magic Eraser, but I love the idea. I'll try it next time I can't get the grime off with the spray cleaners.

I use the creama-bryte with a paper towel a couple of times a week:

on a daily basis, I use windex and a paper towel (but you have to be sure to do it when the stove is NOT hot!).

When I get burned on mess, I put creama-bryte on with a paper towel, let it dry on there and use a scraper (a plastic holder with a razor blade) to scrape the burnt stuff off. I do this maybe once a week or if I make a real big mess.

Its not hard or time consuming at all.

I second this - I've just used the baking soda with water and it works great. I have the special cleaner too but I think this works better.

I use the white cleaner made for the stove but looking forward to trying some of these ideas. Wanted to share though that I use the Pampered Chef scraper to get off stuck on stuff and you dont have to worry about scratching it like you do with a razor blade.
