How do you choose Palo Night?

I don't know what my dining rotation is, so how do I pick? I don't want to miss formal night, pirate night or the AP show.

What would you suggest? Is there a way I can find out my rotation before we sail?

We are doing 7 night Wonder out of Galveston in December 2017. We have 2 adults, 2 kids ages 5 & 3.

TIA!

I would do an online booking of Palo for brunch then wait til boarding the ship, find out your rotation, then book Palo dinner.

Are the formal/Pirate night scheduled pretty stable? I'd hate for it to fluctuate!

Fairly stable. Formal night is usually on night 2 (usually a sea day). And Pirate night could be night 3 or 4 on any given cruise. You can check past navigators here: http://disneycruiselineblog.com/personal-navigators/ to check out what nights were what on a similar itinerary to yours.

I tend to book Palo (brunch mostly) for the first sea day. Or the second one, if there are two in a row.

I don't worry about what dining room/menu I'm missing. I figure I'll catch it the next time.

You won't know your rotation until you check in at the port. Unless you're concierge. There are 2 shows in Animator's. The "regular" AP show the first time you are there, and the Drawn to the Animation show the last time you are in there. If you get AP 3X (as you may on a 7 night cruise), it's Pirate night.

I book the earliest time, then we are finished in time for second seating and can sit with the rest of the family. We don't miss a thing. We use the time for chit chat.
My brother googles when estimted sunset will be for a day and books it for that time. He knows he can't do it all and resignes himself to enjoy the moment and not fret over what dining room he is missing.

We picked a night where we had no interest in the night time entertainment. It wasnt about our dining rotation whatsoever but it usually falls somewhere towards the end of our cruise.

We do Palo always on formal night (Sunday on a 7 day cruise)--since we will dress anyway, why not go to an adult restaurant all dressed up??!!

Yeah--not interested in getting hit with "pirates" swinging swords, etc in the MDR"s on Pirate night.

The one night we went to a MDR on Pirate night here were kids running all over the place acting out as "pirates". That once was quite enough!!

IF we had kids might do it differently, but--

I try to go to Palo on Pirate night. However on the TA cruise we were just on, I just picked a sea day toward the end of the cruise, and guess what??....we enjoyed the pirate night menu.

I was so caught up planning our TA cruise, I never booked Palo for our DVC Member cruise that's coming up. I'll try to get a reservation on the ship, if not, oh well. For sure I will remember to do so for our EBPC cruise coming up in October.

We usually booked our palo dinner for Pirate night as we didn't care for the menu. I do like the new one better and have never encountered out of control children as Uncleromulus did. And with the age of your children you probably will want to enjoy it with them.

I would book whatever night seems best to you and adjust if necessary once you board. You can just call Palo directly to request a change or go the desk. We've never had trouble changing or adding a Palo dinner.

Another vote for Pirate Night. But go ahead and make a reservation - it's usually pretty easy to change once you board.

Pirate Night is usually Palo dinner night for us. We normally do Palo brunch early in the cruise, first or second sea day on TAs and will probably do the same for the EBPC this fall.

We do it on Pirate Night also for Caribbean/Bahamas cruises (don't care for the menu - as apparently is the case for many of us). With doing Alaska this time around, we think we know what night we'd like to do it (Triton's rotation menu). Unfortunately though, we need to know what our rotation is.

We don't, we book Brunch, as I can't imagine missing dinner in the main dining rooms, but to each their own.
