How do you carry your passes?

:confused3
They're in the Mens department with the wallets and wallet accessories, right next to the ID badge reels. They're not the most popular item, so most WalMarts rarely have more than 2 or 3 in stock at any given time. You might have to hunt through the ID reels and wallet windows to find them, but they're there.

They also come in a vertical version, but don't bother with that - I've tried the verticals and they are much more difficult to use. Stick with the horizontals.

Of course, once you get to WDW, you may decide that you want to get one of the WDW lanyards, which are available at lots of the gift shops in the parks, resorts, and DOwntown Disney. The WDW lanyards typically come with a vertical pouch, but Disney in its infinite financial wisdom also sells horizontals that are attached to silver Mickey-head ID reels, so you can theoretically buy a lanyard for about $8-$10, and an ID reel for $6, and use the horizontal pouch from the reel on the lanyard.

yeah, Id like to use some lanyards we have at home for our hospital ID badges, my wife has a thousand of them, and attach the horizontal plastic holder, is it possible to do that with the Walmart plastic zip-shut doo-hickeys you think?

Most of us used ID holders like the ones they sell at the Resort gift shops. We bught ours from the Navy Exchange. So if you dont have a military ID this wont work for you though. But I put my Check Card, my Key to the World, my ID, any Fastpasses I had and like $25 cash. All I had in my pocket was my phone and any loose change I got after I bought stuff.

:cool1:
In my "pokie" around my neck.
the little waterproof holders they sell at the resorts
works well for tickets, fps and a little bit of cash

At first I kept them in the front pocket (near the chest) on my bagallini, which was fine. But then I switched over and put them in my lanyard. BIG MISTAKE. I would NEVER advise this. Somehow the whole bottom came loose and fell off and I lost our KTTW, park tickets, photopasses, etc.. It was a nightmare...especially since I didn't realize it until around 12:30 AM (after MVMCP). ugh.

I wish I had a closeup picture to show you.
it was a pin lanyard- and the bottom plastic part was attached by a metal ring and a snap. I originally THOUGHT it was the snap that came undone and it had slipped off (my guess was during space mountain), but when I retrieved it the next day at L&F it was the metal ring that had come separated and must have slipped off the other metal part on the lanyard and come off. It was such a nightmare. :scared:
I hope that made sense.

As soon as we pass through the turnstiles everyone (including my Mom & Dad) gives their tickets to my DH. Then he takes off to get our first set of FPs and join us at an agreed upon attraction. He is the official FP getter and he keeps all the tickets and FPs in a holder that is given when you buy your tickets.

I couldn't let our kids keep their own tickets. I would be scared to death that they would get lost.

so the metal clippy let go of the ring? the plastic was ok though right? So maybe if I thoroughly inspect the metal parts and make sure they are attached really secure, might not happen??

Yes, over the course of the day, the metal part came...pulled apart (kind of like how it might on a necklace, if that makes sense). I think it was becase of perhaps being pushed down on by lapbars and things. I could fix it by pushing it back together with a pair of pliers. Of course now I'm too freaked out to put anything in there again.

The same kinda thing happened to me at IOA two years ago, my kids and I got a little crazy in the dinosaur play area under the flying dino ride with tunnels and stuff, anyway, I lost my lanyard, credit cards, Drivers license, money, kttw, room keys, everything was in it..... We looked for an hour, couldnt find it. went to L&F and i couldnt believe they had it, and everything was in it still!! Now I am totally careful with these things!!

My mother had the exact same thing happen to hers. Luckily, she spotted it right on the bench she had just been sitting on. At first she figured she had gotten it caught on the bench, and it was broken, so she just got a new one. At the time (First day of our vacation) I had been carrying my KTTW card in my pocket, and amazingly, the second time I tried to use it, the FP machine was already having a hard time reading it. By that night, I couldn't open our room door with it. The next morning, when I went to the front desk for a new card, the CM there noticed a couple of scratches, and told me they were likely caused by carrying it in my pocket.

I was going to go buy a lanyard, but was a bit concerned about loosing the pouch all together. I asked my mother if she still had the broken one, and she did. When I looked at it closely, I noticed that stupid little ring had pulled open a bit, and the plastic from the pouch had just managed to slip out of it.

I had a carabiner with three split ring key rings attached to it, which I got from the Home Depot. I took my mothers old pouch, and threaded it into one of the split rings on my carabiner. I then attached the carabiner through one of the button holes on the bottom pocket on the front of my cargo shorts (I bet a belt loop would work nicely too), and carried everything in it. I had no more problems with messed up KTTW cards, and had plenty of room to carry everyone's KTTW, as well as FP's, and our Photopass card too. My credit cards, Disney Rewards card and ID stayed in a leather credit card case in my pocket, along with a small amount of cash. It worked out very nicely, and I expect that I will use the same setup next year.

The rest of my family have lanyards we got from our local Six Flags at the end of the season for $1.00 each.

Unfortunately, no.

The WalMart lanyards are not loops as most lanyard are; they are simply a length of cord, like a thick shoelace, attached to the plastic pouch at either end. The pouches have metal grommets going through the back, in the upper corners of the pouch, and the lanyard ends go through them.

But the grommets don't go all the way through the pouches, so you can't get a snap hook from a normal lanyard through them.

The WalMart version will work just fine on its own, but if you want to substitute a wider lanyard that is suitable for pins, you're out of luck.

Less than $10 at almost any WDW resort and park gift shop.

Warning on the lanyard holders. We bought my older girls one this summer (11 and 7) so they could carry their own KTTW card. I picked up the 7 yr old to see the show in front of the castle one evening. When I put her back down she screamed "Mom my card is missing" The passholder and her card were gone from her lanyard. They had ripped right off (probably when I picked her up) and fallen off. We looked around and couldn't find it so I went right to Guest Services where they cancelled her old card and issues a new one (and yes it did have charging rights) No one has used it (thank goodness). From then on I kept their cards with me in my travel purse which I wear across my body and only take off when we return to the hotel.

I use this Sorcerer Mickey lanyard pouch that is attatched to my lanyard for my Key To The World Card that I purchased at WDW, however I like to keep my Annual Pass in my wallet.
