If you've moved a few times, how do you respond?

do you mention:

1. the last city/town you came from

2. the place where you've lived the longest

3. your birth city/town/country

4. the nearest big recognizable city, even though you might live in a small town an hour away.

If the person is not from Texas, then I usually say Dallas. If the person is a Texan then I usually say my home town. If a person asks where my birthplace is then I say Des Moines, Iowa.

I answer that I am originally from Kansas City, MO, and I've lived in Southern California for 21 years. :)

I always say that I from Texas but that I live in Michigan. I just can't bring myself to say I'm from Michigan, mostly because I'm not from Michigan, I'm from Texas :teeth:

I usually say " Ive lived all over"

I dont really consider myself "from" anywhere. Although North Idaho is probably the closest thing to home that I have.

Same here. I do not have "loyalty" to any particular state/city/town. I just reply with the place I am currently registered to vote.

"I'm from my momma" :teeth: I was born and bred right here in Frankfort KY, so I have a boring answer. My husband was an army brat though, so I always have to explain that he has lived everywhere, but was born in Michigan.....

Houston - by way of Tucson and Indianapolis - but I was born and raised in Northern California!;)

I say Riverdale. If they don't know Atlanta, I clarify that it's a suburb.

If the people are not from MA then I say just north of Boston. If they are from MA I say where I live now but then add where I grew up!!

Like Michelle, I say "born and bred in Baltimore but now living in Washington, D.C."

I say Im originally from Wrentham Ma. But I have lived in Fl since I was 11.

It's easy if I can just stick with Ohio because I've lived there all my life. Most of the time though I say I am from Columbus, Ohio. I've lived here for the majority of my life so I think of here first :)

I say I'm from Brooklyn. Even when I lived in NC, I would say I'm from Bklyn, but I live in Raleigh.

It's so good to be back home.
:bounce:

I've been struggling with that question ever since I'm in this country. I'm originally from HK. Lived in WI and Chicago for over 10 years. Now I"m in NYC.

I normally just told them exactly the above, and then ask them....so seriously, where do you think I"m from??

It's so good to be back home.

Good for you, disneyjunkie! I'm looking forward to the day I can go back home to live in NYC.

The "where are you from" question is such a pain for DW and I to answer. I'm originally from Queens. DW is from Ephrata in PA Dutch Country. We've been in Cleveland for five years. We usually say something to the effect of "we live in Cleveland, but I'm from New York and she's from Pennsylvania." Even though we live here, Cleveland is not really "home" to either of us.

I was born in Texas and lived there (Cisco, Eastland, Dallas, Bay City, Corpus Christi and Houston until I graduated from high school (Daddy was in road construction) but have lived in California, South Carolina, New Jersey and Mississippi (military wife). Been settled in Mississippi for 30 years, so that's where I say I'm from.

I just say I live in Ky(lived here all my life)..Just outside of Cincinnati..:)

I was born in Kansas but I love living in Minnesota so this is truly my home.
