How do you all DO it?

*tearing up* Thank you for sharing such eloquent thoughts! You're right; if you turn around quick enough you can see your shadows, and a few smaller shadows still filled with innocence and wonderment!

You know, after reading all these responses (especially dreamflight's), Walt's vision of what his World was to be to so many --especially families-- is inarguably alive and well and THRIVING. Despite Roy's leaving and the "We Hate Eisner" clubs sprouting up everywhere, Walt's dream is here today. We HAVE to remember what we really FEEL like when we are there with those we love--not shareholders and votes--but time spent together in a place removed from the daily grind, a place to help create memories (hopefully good) to last forever.

This really is a great thread!

To not be rich and to be able to go to WDW every year, simply put, you need to do your homework. Use the codes, find the discounts, stop at the grocery store before you get to the hotel, etc. It's amazing the things I've learned here on the DIS. It's funny, the people at work..even people from different departments..come to me for assistance in planning their trips! :teeth:

I want to say a big thank you again for all of your warm replies. You have convinced me that we CAN do this again next year. WooHoo!! I am amazed at your Disney loyalty. Each one of you seem to think of Disney as a second (and sometimes primary) residence and are PROUD to be able to think that way. I hope to be able to feel that way some day. I SO want to get back there again. I want it to be a part of me...

I WANT DISNEY IN MY DNA!!!

Thanks again. I never thought this thread would get more than a few replies. You guys are great. You all belong in the Disney family.

  You're welcome...Dear DISer (& sister) friend. Our "Yesterdays" are safe & sound inside the MAGIC! Like a great vault....or a Safety deposit box sprinkled with PD...our memories are permanently linked to ALL of WDW! A venerable "secret society", we all "GET IT." In a day-to-day world such as ours, nothing is worth more. :sunny: Thanks...for sharing my views. XO

aesalsa~I must agree with you! ::yes:: We are truly a family of consummate LOVERS, not HATERS. We are optimistic, and always look for the BEST in everything. We "expect nothing, this way we are ALWAYS surprised!" So, while in the WORLD, we never, ever think of the upper eschelon struggles. We don't give a second thought to the stock market, strategies or even the non-stop machine and system which makes all the MAGIC possible. We merely & simply enjoy the benefits. To all else, we are imperviously oblivious. So, in essence...we truly ESCAPE all the grinds of the real world, while in Walt's World.

Walt's dream...his "vision", remains so much bigger than any disputes, or egos (Eisner). It will always overshadow any negative vibes and company shakedowns. Any place MAGIC lives, is truly a fountain of ETERNAL YOUTH. Ponce De Leon was close...as this fountain IS in Florida! (LOL). The memories, shadows and footsteps which remain, have long outlived many immortals. The essence of the human spirit thrives inside the confines of all the Castle stands to represent. Believers...live forever. ;)

MsLefty~Welcome to our FAMILY! Wear your ears with PRIDE. :goodvibes: Millions of people have walked through those gates, and all have the memories forever locked inside their hearts. For a newbie, you certainly have a wonderful grasp on the Disney connection. It is definitely in the DNA/Blood. As I pass through the gates each visit, the years magically and instantaneously melt-away. Once again~~I am "YOUNG", through and through! The smile I wear while in the parks, is one I am unable to successfully duplicate outside.

It's purely a "giddy...goofy...unabashed...childlike...euphoric..whimsey-filled" expression. Nothing else compares. Others...inside the kingdom....react without hesitation upon seeing me flash my pearly whites. They too, reflect their own version of this liberating & very personal sense of Disney self. It's known in the inner circles, as the *DISNEY SMILE.* :teeth: It is a knee-jerk response to the aura which envelopes the true Disney~lover. It is uncontrollable, and hits you soon before/after arrival. Once it happens to you, you'll KNOW it! These are only a "few" of the ties which bind us DISers together. We share such intense love, passionate feelings and a true understanding for "Disney" and our experiences. May you too, adopt the same through your future visits. I wish you endless fun & infinite ventures to the MAGIC! :sunny: Enjoy.

It's nice seeing that other families do what we've been doing...
Use those AP's to the max!
When we joined DVC, this made life much easier -we've pretty much paid
for at least one trip each year with our DVC points...
The thing that we found interesting, is that our oldest DD who turns 16!!! this year
specifically asked whether we could go to WDW for Spring Break... Amazing!...
So, we used our AP discounts at the WL, and are still checking for airfares from
Chicago. We were looking for an excuse to get out of Chicago for Spring
Break, and she gave it to us!
I second, and third... etc some of the previous comments about WDW -when we're
there we really don't worry about the outside world much. This is our escape from
reality for a while, and we work very hard at it.

As far as paying for the trips, we tend to take "found money" -refunds, etc, for
our mouse money....It usually pays for at least the AP's and maybe the airfares...
We find a way to do the trips, no matter what -they are very very important to
our family..

have fun!
"Those who have been bitten by the Disney bug need no explanation. Those
who haven't been bitten, there is no way to explain.."
