How do wheel chair's work at RSR?

I was surprised to see that there is a separate entrance for wheelchairs (maybe the exit) on RSR. If we only have a wheel chair (and no DAS card) how does waiting in line and getting on the ride work?

How is it different if we use the DAS card and a wheelchair?

I am pretty sure I need to get a DAS for my DD as waiting in a mainstream line that is hard to exit really isn't safe for her but it seems like most the rides with mainstream lines are going to be closed anyway, so I am not sure if it is worth going to the trouble (and describing DD's limitations in front of her) to get a DAS. But I want her to ride RSR and I am wondering if the wheelchair wait gets really long. And then I started thinking that maybe the mainstream line was actually accessible if she can be picked up out her wheelchair and transferred to a regular ride seat. And then I realized I really just need more information from someone who has gone on the ride who uses a wheelchair. Help?

You actually use the fast pass entrance, and at a certain point the CM will direct you to the left where there is a special loading dock where te vehicle can be pulled off the main track to allow time for loading. There can be a little wait at the dock as only one vehicle can be on the ride at a given time.

Do you know how it works if we would rather transfer her to an regular ride car? She seems to enjoy it more if she is sitting next to one of us.

It is a regular car, its just pulled off the track in a special waiting area to give you extra time to load and unload. Once you are loaded you will join the line of cars waiting to race. Each car seats 6 people 3 in the front, 3 in the back.

Just to clarify, if you are wheelchair without DAS, you use the regular line until you approach the loading area, then you are diverted to the left to the entrance where there won't be stairs.

And they run cars as needed to the HA side. They are the same cars and seat 6.

I just got back from a wheelchair trip with a broken foot. We rode RSR 7 times and the longest we waited once we joined the accessible line from the main line was about 8-10 minutes. Most of the time we were able to join the very next car after we rolled up with a less than 2 minute wait. You take as long as you need to get in and out of the car without pressure to hurry. It's a regular car that you transfer from from the wheelchair. Don't forget to stop and look at your picture on the way out!

hey there..

If you have a wheelchair. you wont get a DAS, a wheelchair is your DAS so to speak.

the DAS is for people with more hidden disablities so to speak..

as for RSR, you will be go through the line and then be directed to the left of the reg boarding area..
You will wait in a little area and a car will come from the track, and yes it is a regualar car that everyone uses... your wheelchair person will have to self board or get you to assist.. the CM wont do it for you..
they will give you as much time as you need.. after everyone in your party in settled. they will then get you moving and then onto the main track..

you will go the circut of the track and then your car will come back into the area that you boarded.... you will get out with assitance and then leave via the gate.. which will then merge with the reg exit traffic..

the reg mainstream exit line has stairs so she wont be able to enter or exit from the reg line..

I was thinking we need a das also because she can't wait in mainstream ride lines either because she has seizures frequently and we need to be able to get out of line when that happens. I guess I well find out.

If you use the DAS, your party will go to one of the kiosks to have your tickets scanned for a return time. You will need everyone's tickets. If the line is currently 45 mins, your return time is usually 10 mins less than the actual standby time. Then after your 35 mins is up, you will go to the FP line, they will scan your tickets out of the system, and you will enter the FP line. The current system is working really well.

ETA - When you get the DAS you will also need everyone's tickets so they can tag them all to the DAS>
