are ordering a variety of items and want to maximize our dining credits? I/E we are on the DDP so we get TS credits, but want to use a combo of TS credits and cash, getting the maximum 'bang for the buck'. We are dining at Roaring Fork and want a relaxing meal, any suggestions?

If your intent is to use TS credits to order QS meals, you must have finished using all your QS credits.

Using TS credits for QS meals is never going to get you bang for the buck. You won't get anything extra, just the same thing you would have gotten for a QS credit.

When you get to the cashier, specify which meals you are using dining credits for and which you are paying for with another method.

Unless by DDP you mean Deluxe Dining Plan (usually designated here as DXDP or DXDDP) which does not have TS or QS credits, just meal credits that can be used for either; however, the QS allotment is the same as it would have been on a QS credit under the regular Disney Dining Plan (entrée/combo and beverage, no appetizer or dessert included). Using those credits for the most expensive entrees possible is advisable, although you still wont get the most bang for your buck using deluxe credits for QS meals.

There is no such thing as "bang for your buck" when using a TS credit at Roaring Fork, really.

Yes, forgive me I MEANT we are on the DXDP, and while I know it is a 'waste' to use the credits on a QS meal, it fits our schedule and I was thinking just 1-2 credits plus cash MIGHT be used for a group of 6 people if we use them wisely

It probably still won't be as good a use as a TS would, but select the most expensive entrees on your party's list to use credits on. I still don't think Roaring Fork has anything expensive enough to equal what a TS would cost, especially since the QS entitlement doesn't include the appetizer or the dessert.

I believe dining plan meals must be rung up separately from those purchased using another method of payment, so separate the purchases according to payment method when approaching the cashier and explain that you are using dining plan for some and a different method of payment for others.

Like previously said....if your plan is to use TS credits at a QS restaurant, you've already lost the "maximize your credits" battle.

Yes, of course.
Thanks! We usually do the regular Dining Plan, which doesn’t include an appetizer, but I’m taking my son on a mom/son trip and wanted to do Yachtsman, so we upgraded our plan. Good info!

TS on the deluxe plan does include appetizer at lunch and dinner - but not at breakfast. (Yachtsman doesn't serve breakfast so that will include one)

If you have more meals planned than you have deluxe credits for, then it's obviously best to pay OOP for the QS. It's unlikely you have a plan with unused dining credits on the DxDP though (I know I never do), so then you are left with using a TS credit on a QS meal and although it's not a good value, you can still come out ahead on the DxDP by having a few QS meals part of your plan (I've personally done this and done the math), so I wouldn't stress over that too much and just order what you want and throw in a QS here and there when it fits your touring plan.

Do you have enough TS ADRs to utilize all of your credits. When I have had DlxDp I have never left credits on the table. I have also found with how many snacks you get we never needed to have QS.

We were on DxDP last week and got sick, had to cancel a few meals. We had one night where DH and I didn’t want to eat dinner, due to feeling ill, and DD ordered QS from Mara. I took her down there for dinner to go. They didn’t give us an app or dessert on the DxDP, only the standard QS meal package. I did ask about it. She got the burger, side, and drink OR dessert. Not both.

QS meals on DxDP do not include app or dessert. It is a standard QS meal. It's one of the reasons why QS is such a poor value on DxDP.

Yep. Not only do you get a much lower quality meal, you don't get the full DXDP entitlements. Entree and a drink...that's it.
