My wife and I will be taking our 3 children to WDW for the first time. On our first night we are going to start out with Chef Mickey's. We are staying at the BCV and want to have the kids ride the monorail. Am I correct that we should take a boat to Epcot then catch the monorail over to Chef Mickey's?

Thanks

I am not too sure but you may have to change monorails. I believe the one from Epcot goes to the TTC, and then you can get on the one for the Contemporary. BTW, we did Chef Mickeys for breakfast and loved it. We will be doing it for dinner this August.

Hi! It's much quicker to walk to Epcot from BCV than to take the boat. It's not far at all, even for little ones! The long walk will be from International Gateway where you will enter Epcot to the very front of the park to catch the monorail. You would then ride that monorail to the TTC where you would get off and catch another monorail to the Contemporary and Chef Mickey's. This option would give you a nice, long ride on the monorail but would also involve a lot of time and walking.

Another option would be to take the bus to Magic Kingdom (you won't actually go into MK though) and catch the monoral there to the Contemporary. This is what we do whenever we're dining at a monorail resort - it's not a long monorail ride this way, but it cuts down considerably on walking and time. What we do is ride the monorail all the way around to all the monorail resorts, having our meal along the way. That way, we get a longer monorail ride plus we get to see the other resorts we're not eating at.

Happy planning!

Take the bus to the Magic Kingdom and the monorail to the Contemporary. When you're finished with dinner, take the monorail back to the Magic Kingdom. Be sure and ask the CM if you can sit up front. Enjoy! :)

To get to CM's from the BC, I'd take the bus to the MK and then walk or monorail (one stop) to the Contemporary.

But you can indeed take the monorail from Epcot. First, don't take a boat to Epcot from Beach Club. It's almost an equal walk from BC to the YC dock to catch the boat as it is to just walk directly to Epcot's International Gateway. Second, once in Epcot you have to walk to the front of the park and out the turnstyles to get on the monorail. Third, when the monorail drops you at the TTC, switch over to the Resorts monorail and go 4 stops to the Contemporary.

Coming back, its one stop from the Contemporary to the TTC, then switch to the Epcot monorail. At Epcot, walk through the park to the International Gateway exit and back to BC.

If you choose to go through EPCOT, you'll need to use a day of your pass if you have hoppers or whatever.

If you have a car, that would be by far the easiest way to get to Chef Mickey's. You could still go on a spin on the monorail after dinner. Nice start to your trip.

If no car, I would take the bus to MK and go from there.

Have a great vacation and I hope your family loves WDW as much as all of us on these boards do!

With young children, I suggest that you take the bus from your hotel to the MK and then take the monorail to the Contemporary. Enjoy Chef Mickey, we had a great time there a few years ago. ::MickeyMo

We think the walk from the Epcot resorts to the Epcot monorail is a pretty good hike, once you get to the International Gateway, it's still a hefty distance and kind of uphill to the monorail. I agree with the suggestion that you take the bus to MK, then catch the monorail right there. On the way home, ask the CM at the Contemporary if you can ride in the front car. If no one else is riding there, they will let you.
