I never think they are worth it.
We went in September and it was horrible, I actually hated it.
Wish I had spent the money on other things, will never sail with a verandah again.
In the Caribbean? Definitely warm enough. It's a little chilly on deck after dark when the ship is moving and you're out in the open, but it's usually quite comfortable on the verandah.
We have been on three cruises in February and love our verandah. As in previous post, it can get chilly on deck at night, but it's nice to let in the fresh air from the verandah any time you want.
If it's the Carribean, I loved napping on the verandah as the boat sauntered by. Even at night it was just lovely. I also really enjoyed being at port and watching the crowds... in general I just loved being at the room. I didn't participate in a lot of crowded ship activities.
Interesting…. We are doing a Christmas sailing (December). Is the Verandah a waste? Should we just stick to ocean view? Looking at my cruise it’s only a couple hundred dollar upcharge for the verandah…
This is definitely an opinion question/ answer. I could never book a Verandah again and be happy. I had one on a 4 night, beautiful weather cruise to the Bahamas and essentially never used it.
There are people whose cruise would not be a cruise without mornings and sunsets alone on their balcony.
I’d rather have the money (to spend on another cruise.)
Posting from our cabin heading to Nassau right now and to respond to OP's question -- for DW and myself, if not in a verandah cabin -- then not on a cruise. Don't care where or when, if it's cold/hot outside our cabin door we just dress for it. Opening the sliding door to hear the water and smell the air is worth whatever it take$.
I was on a Bahamian cruise this past February. I spent more time on the Verandah than anywhere else on the ship. It was plenty warm. I loved getting coffee and a muffin from room service early in the morning and enjoying a some quiet time before my family was awake. I also would take an afternoon break there while everyone else was getting ready for dinner. My family all used it too.
It was magical.
