How do we feel about verandahs in February?

Booking our first cruise (ever) for February. Do we think the verandah is worth it? I'm worried it'll be too cold out there.

We sailed the western on the fantasy 1/28 - 2/4 in a verandah. Used it everyday. It was nice and warm!

I think it really depends on where you're from. I LOVE the verandahs in Jan/Feb but we also are from Ohio where its usually an ice cube when we leave. People use to warmer weather it may be a little chilly. I found at night it was a little chilly but not bad enough I didn't use it

Depends on the itinerary. Our first time on the Fantasy it was mid January and we had a verandah and used it a lot, beautiful weather in the eastern carib!! This past December (cruise ended Jan 2nd) we were on the west coast (Cabo and Ensenada) and a verandah would have been a waste (we had a deluxe inside that time) as are only decent day was Cabo.

Interesting…. We are doing a Christmas sailing (December). Is the Verandah a waste? Should we just stick to ocean view? Looking at my cruise it’s only a couple hundred dollar upcharge for the verandah…

This is definitely an opinion question/ answer. I could never book a Verandah again and be happy. I had one on a 4 night, beautiful weather cruise to the Bahamas and essentially never used it.

There are people whose cruise would not be a cruise without mornings and sunsets alone on their balcony.

I’d rather have the money (to spend on another cruise.)

We just sailed Western Caribbean Feb 25 - Mar 4. Had a verandah and used it day and night the entire cruise. Didn't wear a sweater or hoodie out there ever! Perfect time for a verandah!!

Another "worth it" consideration for me is the length of the cruise. On a shorter (3-5 night) cruise, I am too busy around the ship to use my veranda very much. But on a longer cruise, I feel like I have more relax time and use it a lot more.

I won't cruise without one, but I like fresh air that's not near people soup.

We were also on this sailing. We LIVED on the balcony LOL Definitely depends on the sailing and overall weather.
It was over 80 degrees on our balcony in Cozumel. We were sweating on the balcony.

I have sailed out of NYC 3 times in the fall months and will be doing it again in November. I always get a Verandah. I love sailing past the Statue of Liberty and being on my own balcony.
The last trip was to Bermuda and it was definitely enjoyed in the warmer climate.
🌴🚢👍🏻

Not to hijack the OP's post, but what side of the ship do you need to select to get the view of lady liberty?

You can certainly use your veranda in February if you'd like. The weather typically heats up as you move south. I have cruises several times in January and February, and it has never been too cold for the veranda. There have been a few days when I wore a jacket while on the veranda and walking out on deck, but it has always been warmer than it was back home in Ohio.

Heading out you need to be on the starboard (right) side of the ship. Coming back in, on the port (left) side. Though I'd really recommend being up on deck for the sail out. The views are fantastic. It is nice having a port side balcony coming back into NYC though, as that's usually happening around 5 AM and it's great to just head out on the balcony to catch the views.
