How do these potential ADR's sound?

I have a few weeks to make my reservations, and I want to be sure I am making the best choices possible since I'm going during Free Dining and I figure it might be hard to make changes.

Background: I will not have the dining plan (I'm going with 40% PIN code)

The traveling party consists of me and my 2 nieces- ages turning 12 and 8- who have never been to WDW and don't really know much about what to expect. I want to make sure they get a little sample of the best of what's available. However, I don't want to do anything too fancy, primarily because they don't even really like sitting at the table for family dinners. Also, the 8 yr old will only really want Mac and Cheese and Chicken Nuggets; while they'll have these options most anywhere, it means any interesting culinary delights will be lost on her. When I mentioned to the 12 yr old that I would be calling for some dining reservations soon, she said they should be for "kid friendly" places. :rotfl: (I take that to mean "not boring or leisurely")

So this is what I want to try for- in order of when we'd eat there:

Biergarten- lunch. I've never been there but I thought we should definitely have a meal in WS. I want to try Tokyo Dining (I'm a big sushi lover + studied Japanese in college), but think the girls would enjoy Biergarten more, and I'd also like to try it.

CRT- breakfast. No brainer princess: Hopefully before the park opens on the older niece's birthday, which will be our 2nd full day. (even though she isn't particularly a princess fan) I've been there twice before and love eating in the castle.

50's Prime Time- lunch. Never been there either, but thought that it might be fun. And if nothing else, they have Smores and milkshakes!

Chef Mickey's- dinner. Another one that was pretty much a no brainer, especially since it would give us an excuse to ride the monorail. I've been there for breakfast before, but not for dinner.

I am also trying to decide whether we should do a dinner at Boma. I've never been there, and would really like to try it since we'll be staying at AKL already. However, I'm not sure whether the girls would appreciate it. Thoughts?

Any other suggestions for fun meals are definitely welcome! However, I don't currently think I want to do any more breakfasts-- CRT is more for the effect of starting off a day at the castle; I don't think any of us are big breakfast eaters.

Thanks! :)

They all sound great!!! We are not fans of Boma, but I know it gets raves here on the DIS.

Sci Fi might also be fun for them. Take a look at both, if you think PTC is better go for it.

Do breakfast at Boma, it is awesome. Not as adventurous as dinner, and they'll find some familar foods. It is a lot cheaper than dinner and still a fantastic meal!

Question about Sci Fi... it looked like the seating was in cars with rows of 2 people behind each other (instead of the usual arrangement where 2 people face each other)? If so, that would really not be cool for a party of 3...

We ate at 50's PTC and it was wonderful. DD3 liked the decor, but was not old enough to get it. Your DN's are a good age to enjoy the tv shows and see what life was like. My DM grew up in the 50's so she was showing me what her mother had in their kitchen. The food is really good also. We had the onion rings, Pot-Roast, and the fried chicken dinner. All was really good and not greasy.

If you really want to try Boma, why not do it for breakfast? I understand the "seasonings" and "flavors" aren't so much at breakfast as they are at dinner. We are trying breakfast on our next trip as I know I won't care for the dinner seasonings/flavorings (I'm rather fussy).

I thought about that, but it seems like an awful lot of money to spend when none of us are big breakfast eaters. Plus, 2 of us are not morning people and getting to the parks before rope drop will be enough of a challenge without having to worry about eating a full meal beforehand. :rotfl: I can't see the 12 yr old being happy about getting up earlier just to eat a sit down meal... and I can't see the 8 yr old sitting still or eating anything significant when she wants to get to the parks. (8 yr old is the one early bird amongst us)
