how do the lockers work?

I haven't been to Universal before, and I understand you have to put your bags in a locker before getting on certain rides. How does this work - does it slow you down much? How much do they cost?

For rides that require them, lockers are free for a duration that is linked to the expected wait time of the ride. If you wait too long after that time, there will be a charge. It uses biometric fingerprint scans to enable access.

The FJ locker line is often long and painfully slow, the rest aren't too bad.

They use your fingerprint that is scanned and linked to a specific locker. Rides that require the use of lockers are:

USF - Rockit, Mummy, Men in Black
IOA - Hulk, Dragons, Forbidden Journey

Remember that the water rides do have lockers, they are optional, so if you would like to store items in there, you must pay for them. However, you are allowed to take your belongings with you on the water rides.

If you cut through Filch's, you can get to the lockers easier/less painfully! Then you can slip right in to the main line or single riders line! :cool2:

OP: be sure to GENTLY place your finger on the scanners. Jamming your finger on the scanner messes up the scan.

Very true, but I don't mention it 'cause it just feels wrong to me. Darn conscience.

Plus there have been times, they'd had a CM posted there preventing it.:rotfl:

There are lockers by the water rides?! How much are they? Do they have a time limit? I was planning on carrying a small pack pack but wondered how I was going to keep cameras/phones safe from the water and banging around. :yay: Also, this way I can put flip flops in my back pack for the water rides and spare our running shoes!

I too would like to know if there are "free while you ride" lockers
by Rip Saw Falls and Popye's Bilge Raft rides so as not to have to bring
my non waterproof belongings onto these rides.
Thanks so much for any input.

There are lockers for both, but they are not free. I don't know how much or for how long since I've never used them.

The lockers by the water rides are $3/hr and are completely OPTIONAL. You can bring your items on the water rides, but they may get wet. If you go over the 1hr limit, the locker will ask you for more $ before you can open your locker.

Speaking of lockers and water rides, I've noticed on P&BBRB that the center area of the RV appears to have a stowage area with a clear plastic cover. I've not ridden it yet, just seen them from above as they pass under me. Is that right and if so, how dry does that area stay?

Is it coin activated?

Cash or credit card. It dispenses change in the form of $1 coins.

There is, and it is either velcro secured or "snap button" secured, I don't remember. People often toss their shoes/socks in there. It keeps everything relatively dry. If there are any cracks in the plastic, or it's not properly secured, stuff may get wet.
