Obviously first-timers here, and we're wondering how to keep track of the room keys (with the tix encoded) for everyone? Do the kids wear their own lanyards? Do Mom or Dad carry the kids' room keys?

Give me all your tips in this area!!!

I think it depends on how old / responsible your kids are. For us DH carries all the cards. Also, we don't put any spending priv. on any card except for DH's - that way if one get's lost, not really a worry.

What does he carry them in/on? A lanyard? His wallet? Do you have to show all of the tix every time you go on a ride or attraction?

My girls are 6 and 9, and NOT responsible enough to carry them, imo!!!

Maybe I'll carry two, and DH will carry two. Are they like credit card-sized?

I FEEL SO CLUELESS!!! LOL!

I usually carry the tickets for our family in one of those water-proof card holders which i attach to a belt loop and tuck in a pocket.

The tickets can be a number of sizes...if you have them on your room key then they will be credit card size and plastic. If you have APs or regular MYW tix, they are a bit smaller but not plastic (a very heavy paper). You only need the tickets in the park if you need to get a fast pass. Otherwise once you get through the gate, you can put them away.

They look/feel just like credit cards. They can be demagnetized by cell phones or credit cards, though, so it's important to keep them protected by either the paper envelopes you can get with them or keep them separate from those things!
I don't think there is any need for the kids to hold their own. In fact, it's easier for one person to have all of them so that they're all together to get FastPasses, IMO.
You need them to enter the park (each person does need to hold their own then), to enter your room (obviously!), if you're driving into the resort to show the gateperson (just one card, not everyone's), to charge things if you wish to use them for that, and then to obtain FastPasses (not to redeem them). I think that's about it...

They are credit card sized. Actually, they look like a credit card. They can be attatched to a credit card for charging privieges. You only need them to get into the park, to eat (if you are on the dining plan and because everyone in your party is on the dining plan only one person need use their card) to charge things and to get in your room. We carry all the cards in the backpack we take into the parks, in a wallet The kids do not carry their own cards. We do not put charging privileges on the kids' cards.

Once we go through the turnstiles, I collect everyones passes. It also makes it easier when one of us goes ahead to get Fastpasses-I just hand over the stack. Once we get FP's, it all goes back in the plastic holder on my lanyard or in my purse. No charging privileges with my kids-heck, I've been guilty of losing my own room key and pass, so I definitely think it would be more likely with them (they get so excited and lose their heads sometimes when visiting the mouse). ;)

DH carries all the cards/tickets but mine. My children will not carry their own until they are teens.
This is because I vivdly remeber watching a man scream at his young daughter because she had lost either her ticket or money (I couldn't tell which) as the mother was saying, "Well that's just like her." and the poor kid had tears running down her face. I was thinking, if that's just like her why'd you give it to her:confused3 . It was on my Honeymoon, and I knew then that I would not expect my kids to keep up with anything important at WDW.

I heard something about being able to put a set amout of spending money on a card as apposed to hooking it up to your credit card - anyone know anything about it? We have family that wants to give the kids money for the trip but does not want to do the cash thing, if it was on their card, they could spend it and when it was gone it was gone. any ideas?

I always carry all of our cards, sometimes DH carries his. I wear a fanny pack and inside I keep a coupon type holder with different "slots". I put all of our passes in one slot and use the others for our spending money, meal money, the kids spending money, etc. I just get them out at the turnstyles and collect them all on the other side and keep them together. I dont even trust my 17 yr old to carry her own ticket.

I put mine in a wallet or on one of those holders and the end of the lanyard

My dh carries all of our tickets in his wallet because they are credit card sized. We have to use the ticket once - to get into the park and he just passes them out while we are in line. And we also never put charging privileges on the kids' cards that way "just in case" it ever gets lost if (big if) we ever let our ds carry his.

I am the "keeper of the keys". Once they are used to enter the park, they all go in the shoulder pocket of my baggelini. Of course, that also makes me the "keeper of the FastPasses" and the "buyer of all meals" but that's how life is for mom!

Ok this is just one of those live and learn posts. We thought DD(6) was so responsible with her own lanyard and keeping her own card. We had this little game when we entered the parks that she would check my lanyard and I would check hers. We went to MK on the way back from dinner at 1900 Park Fare. About 5 minutes in we stopped to get a family picture on Main Street and I noticed DD's pouch was empty. When I asked DD where her card was she had no idea. I know I had not checked and it was probably left at the turnstile on the way in. We looked around and headed back to the gate. No security cm had seen it and it was not turned in. I was just frantic by the time we went to GR. Luckily, DD did not have charging priviledges. The cm at GR was wonderful in reassuring me everything would be fine and cancelled that card and gave us a tempory card. The new system offers that much security. There are no room numbers on the card for that reason. CM said it is a common occurance. That spoiled that night for us so we headed back to POP and I went to get DD a new card. Needless to say DD did not carry the new one and my advice is for parents to keep the cards and avoid the hassel we had. Dn lost her ID in February and it was returned in the mail in May. Thanks Disney.

I keep all of our room keys / tickets on holder on a lanyard. I got it at Wal-Mart for about $1.

If you want to buy a Disney gift card, you can get them at the Disney store and at Disney shopping-both only offer one type-with Mickey on it.

If you want a variety of kinds to pick from (Different pictures on them), you can order from: http://disneyland.disney.go.com/dis...Offers/detail?name=ResortCardSpecialOfferPage

Another Dis'er was kind enough to give me this link a while back and I am truly grateful! It allowed me to stock up on a variety of gift cards (and made it easier for my kids to tell whose was whose).

Hi there,

In our family, DH gets card duty as we walk into the park but usually gives them to me as soon as we swipe them. I use a backpack in WDW and always have a nice easy-to-get-to spot set aside just for the tickets which are, like everyone else has said, just like credit cards.

:goodvibes Have fun:goodvibes
