How do split stays work?

I am planning a week long vacation and probably going to book a preferred room at pop. I really want to stay at AoA but don't want the 15 minute walk back to the little mermaid rooms all week with my two very small children and a dh who is disabled (prosthetic leg). the main reason I want to stay at AoA is for the pool though so I'm considering getting a little mermaid room for one night then switching to pop the next day for the rest of the week.

Will they move our luggage for us or will we have to move it over to the other hotel ourselves? I'm thinking we can just walk across the bridge to get to pop, is that correct? Will we be allowed to stay and swim at AoA after we check out in the morning or do we have to leave right away?

And last but not least- what is the likelihood that it will even be warm enough to swim in January? I'd hate to go to the hassle of switching resorts and not even get to swim.........

Disney will absolutely move your luggage for you! In 2011, I booked ASMu but after one night decided that values just weren't for me and upgraded to CSR. Our luggage was delivered to CSR without issue!

As for swimming weather it all depends on whether or not a cold front blows in. Typical January temperature is right around 70 degrees but can dip much lower depending upon the weather.
