How do room discounts work?

I am hoping for a room only discount for Sept 29-Oct 6, 2012. I know one hasn't been offered yet but, hypothetically, if a discount is offered let's say for the last 2 weeks of Sept and ends on Sept 29th (again, hypothetical), in order for the entire stay to qualify for the discount, does the discount have to apply to each and every day of our stay? Or if the discount ends say Sept 29th, will I only get the 29th at a discounted rate or will it cover the whole stay because I am checking in one of the last day offered in the discount?

Room discounts don't work like free dining discounts. The current free dining discount ends on September 29 and if you check in by that date you can apply that discount to your entire stay, up to 14 nights. Room discounts do not cover an entire stay if you check in by the last day or partial stay at a resort. The room discounts are only good for the specific dates they are listed for.

Also, if you are planning on being in WDW during those dates a free dining discount is most likely a much bigger discount than a room discount. The only time a room discount saves more money is usually if you are staying at a deluxe resort and the room discount is 40% off. Of course, to get a free dining discount you have to be booked under a Magic Your Way package that included room, tickets and dining and has a 3 night minimum booking and a 2 base ticket minimum.

Thank you for clarifying this! I've been so confused! I really don't want the dining plan so getting it free is not much of an incentive. If there's no room discount that comes up we won't go this year.
