How do most of you pay your cell phone bill?

I'm behind the times on technology to say the least. I just have a Tracfone at the moment and just buy a card every so often. DH has a phone through Virgin Mobile and goes in every month to pay his bill in cash.
My 14 yr old DD has saved up enough to buy an iphone 5c through Virgin Mobile and I see if you do the auto pay it's $5 less per month. Do most of you do that with your cell phone bill? I presume than it would be set up to automatically come off a credit card you provide. Any problems with doing that? I'm so old school. :confused3
Thanks!!! :goodvibes

The only warning I would give about auto pay is don't "set it and forget it". It's way too easy to get third party charges on your bill (you know, those commercials "free ringtone if you text 5555555!!" ... and the small print you can't read says that by texting that number you agree to a $9.99/month "ringtone service" on your bill), or even for the cell provider to mess something up and you not know it. Have your bill e-mailed to you each month (or some companies send you an e-mail telling you that your bill can be viewed on the website) and check it each month. If something is wrong, *CALL* the company *BEFORE* the bill due date to get it fixed.

I use Tracfone and purchase a yearly phone card with double the minutes option if you need to get more minutes. 800 minutes is part of the year's contract. The cost is $133 (includes tax) for a year's service. I have never used up all the minutes in one calendar year. Very inexpensive and very good phone coverage. :thumbsup2

I pay straight talk $495 annually. They automatically charge my credit card and text me a few days before. With tax it's $42/month for an iPhone which is well worth it.

Us too! DH, DD (16), and me! Sometimes I wish I could upgrade to a smart phone like Straight Talk but I'd have to do that for all of us then and cannot swing those payments. I believe they are about $45.00 a month for each phone. I know you get more but it's more of a want, not a need for us. All in all though, we are very happy with our phone service and cost!

I set everything to autopay. Virgin Mobile give me a $5 per month discount. Never had a bogus charge in the last ten years.

I do autopay for ours on our Disney visa..... we never have an issue with it. (knock on wood..... ) ;)

I autopay, I had been auto paying through our checking account. When I changed carriers last week I said why aren't I charging this for rewards? I have a lot of Disney Visa rewards, so for now I am using Discover.

Thanks for all the responses! Still not sure what we'll do, but at least I know it's probably fine to do the auto pay.

We both have Virgin. My husband's is on auto-pay and I pay mine with the refill cards.
Target has them on sale occasionally, 10% or so off plus with the Red Card, an additional 5% off.

Another question about auto pay, do you choose the date you want it to be paid, or do they? Also how do the Vrigin Mobile refill cards work? Thanks again!!!! :)

I autopay using an AMEX card for my AT&T account.

Same here.

The bill is charged on the due date -- which is a few weeks after they send me a bill....so I have plenty of time to make sure it's correct before they charge the CC.

I never do auto-pay. Well, I did auto-pay for my mortgage, but that's a different beast.

I never want to give anyone access to my money at their convenience. Even for saving 5 bucks.

I call my cell phone company and pay over their system using my charge card.

We've had Virgin Mobile for many, many years.

We've done auto-pay as well as top up cards. We do top up cards for the two reasons others have mentioned: get a discount at Target sometimes as well as we can then pay when we want.

You can add top up cards at anytime during a month and it goes in your balance and then they take your monthly charge from that when its due.

My parents go to the AT&T store to pay their share on their CC, and DW mails a check for our portion.
