How do magicbands know to pull your MNSSHP ticket instead of regular admission?

Next month we plan to spend the morning sleeping in, shopping and swimming before attending the Halloween party. Our magicbands are already loaded with parkhopper tickets, as well as the MNSSHP tickets. Our plan is to enter the park at 4pm, before the party starts (I've read that they typically allow party guests in that early). So, how do we ensure that when we scan our magicbands at the gate it pulls from the party ticket and doesn't pull a day off our parkhopper? Is there a separate entrance? I bought my tickets over the phone, and was told it would just be on my magicband. I don't have a paper ticket of any kind to show anyone.

Last year we had the 4 day Military Salute tickets on our magicbands, but we also have 10 day non-expiring hoppers linked. The system screwed up and deducted a day off our hoppers, and we wound up having a day left on the military tickets that went to waste. Grrrr. Want to make sure we don't have that problem again!

Magicbands don't know anything. The software that runs the touch points can be set to a regular mode or a special event mode. In event mode, specific touch points can only use event tickets. Just make sure to go in the touch points that are marked for the party.

Did you try to have that fiasco fixed?! I had a similar situation with non-expiring park hoppers and separate expiring park hopper tickets. It took some time but they made it right...

At around 4 they will have separate Halloween Party entrances. They were on the far right hand side close to guest relations when we went last year. If you really want to make sure just stop at Guest Relations before and have them place the MNSSHP ticket as the top priority. We did this because of the headache we dealt with the year prior, but the gates they open specifically for the Halloween Party will only search for those tickets.

I wasn't sure about the party ticket, so this was good to know about only going thru that one entry. FYI, in the future if you have more than one ticket linked to you account (Not talking special events, but tickets like you had last year with problems) you will need to have your tickets prioritized. In other words, last year your 4 day ticket should have been at the top of the priority, and as such, would have been used up first. Your 10 day non-expiring should have been listed last. We found this out the hard way too.

How do you do that? Prioritize? I just record my tickets today (YAY) I bought 2 day park tickets and a Halloween party ticket. I was about to load them (to my new magic band) but I don't want to mess it up. If I put all 3 on one band, it will know I'm going to the party right??

You don't put it on your new Magicband you put them on your MDE account. With regular park tickets and party tickets there is 0 need to prioritize them. Just make sure when you enter the party you go through the party turnstiles and not regular ones. They will be well marked.

If you somehow have non expiring tickets already on your account or other tickets you want to use this trip besides those you just bought then you would go to Guest Relations and have them prioritize them. That way the system knows to pull the expiring tickets before the non-expiring. This is not common as there is no longer a non-expiring option.

We were told by guest services earlier this month that they can prioritize your tickets on your Magic Band. You cannot do it yet with the application, but they are working on that. We had four tickets on our bands, including one party ticket, and had no problems.

Thanks all! Good to know they have an easy system to handle the party tickets. We visited Guest relations on our last trip when we realized they screwed up our tickets, but it was our last day, so they couldn't give us an extra day right then, just made a note of it in their computers. We plan on visiting guest relations and hopefully they'll refund us one day admission back onto our passes. Ugh. Such a pain. Especially since I called Disney prior to our last trip to ask them to prioritize the military tickets. The guy on the phone said he did it, but apparently not!

Sometimes the desk at your on-sight Disney hotel can help you with prioritizing your tickets.

I didn't ask the question but found this answer very helpful, so THANKS!

We (my whole family) still have several no-expire credits linked to our MDE and will be doing two MNSSHPs coming up without using a park ticket earlier in the day (4pm arrival or later), so this was a concern for me. The last MNSSHP we attended was before the Magic Bands were in use, so plastic card/tix all around then.

I wanted to know how this works too. Next spring we are going with our DS and family. They have maybe three park days and 7 or 8 water park days left on a ticket. We were thinking of them getting park hopper passes 8 days, but using the water park park from the other ticket.

So the answer was helpful to me too

Thank you for this information. I also wondered about this but what happens when you go to an Event like MNSSHP and show up at 4:00 pm?

Thank you very much! I was not aware there are separate entrances.

For hard ticket events, just use the entrance that is obviously marked for that event (it will have a CM with a nice sign also as well as other signs. last resort ask before you scan your band if this is the right line for the event your going too).. MNSSHP it'll be a whole set of entrance points and very obvious where you go...

For normal tickets, when you have multiple tickets they actually don't know when you planned to use them so they always pick the ones that cost the most. Guest relations before you use the ticket is how you get the correct tickets you want to use setup before you use them.. The key here is if you have more than 1 regular ticket that doesn't have a specific entrance date, then you must visit guest relations to ensure the correct ticket will get used. You only need to do this once unless your saving some old ticket and need to use it mid-trip or before you run out of the tickets you had them prioritize for you.
