I have an ADR I'm trying to give a fellow Diser that we do not need.

It's in my name for 2 adults/2kids

The trade board says you just need their name ph# and number in the party.

I've spoke to 2 different people and they won't let me change the number to 3 from 4 which seems like the dumbest thing i"ve heard. They tell me I have to cancel for 4 and rebook for 3 (if it's available). When I tell them I need to change the name they give me the third degree if it's in my name and i'm not going to be there then blah blah blah :confused3

How do I give this guy my ressie???

What do I need to say to these people to allow this? Should I leave it 4 and he can just say 1 of the kids is sleeping in w/ g-ma???

Thanks!!

Yes..but I got the feeling from the trade board that the current ressie holder makes the change for the person requesting your ressie. Is this not the case?

I could give him my name and conf # and his wife could say my name :confused3

Are you in a situation where you can keep the ressie and just give the fellow DISer your name and confirmation number? Then when they show up at the podium, they just give your name.

Two instances when you could not do this is if you will be double booked, by having another ADR elsewhere for the same meal, or if you used a credit card to gaurentee. (CRT, nORWAY, fdp, ETC)

I do have another ADR that we will be using.

The one I'm trying to give him is at 7:40am at CM. We are going to Tusker at 8:30am. Could I be turned away?

When you hold two reservations around the same time, you run the risk of Disney cancelling one of them and you will show up and not have a reservation (and this has happened to people here on the DIS). You are trying to do a nice thing, but if it were me, I'd take care of my own family and decide where you want to eat and hold that one reservation.

Then I suggest calling back and trying a different CM. Some will allow you to change the name on the ressie and others will not.

A strategy that I have used succesfully is to tell the CM that I personally will be unable to use the ADR, but that I would hate for my "travel companions" to miss out on the meal. Then I give them my "travel companion's names".

The last time I did this we did a 3 way call where we were both on the phone. We did the "travel companion" thing. The CM still cancelled and rebooked but they got the reservation anyway. As for going from 4 to 3, just add an extra person and when they check in they can say that person didn't make it. No big deal. It's not like you are going from 10 to 3 where they are holding a big table. How many tables for 3 are there out there anyway? ;)
