We just told our kids last night. Here's how I did it:
First of all I assembled the surprise. I put a $40 Disney gift card in the box with magic bands and then printed out our flight itinerary. Then I copied all our WDW reservations (hotel, dining and reserved Fast Pass times) into a word document, listing them by day. At the top I put "We're going to DISNEY WORLD!" I also included some custom maps you can order from Disney (free!) in with the package. I wrapped it all up in a shoe box and then told the kids, "Hey, look I found another Christmas gift!" They were really excited just about that. (I found out later my son thought it was Call of Duty Ghosts, LOL)
My son of course, takes charge and rips into the package. He sees the box with the magic bands (the box has The Incredibles on it by the way) and he kind of looked at me funny. I said, well keep looking. He got to the Word printout and said, "WE ARE GOING TO DISNEY!" They both just kind of sat there and finally, my son says, "When are we going?" I said, "Well maybe you should read everything," and he does and then says, "FEBRUARY 11th!?! That's two weeks! We're going to Disney in TWO WEEKS!!" and started grinning and clapping. Meanwhile my daughter is smiling from ear to ear and keeps saying, "I'm going to Disney!" Then they looked at the maps and DS started telling DD all about the stuff on the maps and what we're going to do first. He's showing her the different areas of the Magic Kingdom and I was totally in shock because he remembered where a lot of stuff was and in what lands, etc. That kid kills me. DS then reads over the entire itinerary (of course) while DD runs around the living room singing, "I'm going to Disney! I'm going to Disney!"
Well we finally get them calmed down a little bit but at least once every 10 minutes, one of them said, "I can't believe we're going to Disney!" or asked a question about the trip. OMG, it was a great moment! Then this morning, the first thing DD said was, "15 days until Disney!" and they talked about their plans the whole way to the sitter's this morning
Unfortunately, I screwed up on my camera and didn't get a video. Every digital camera I've ever owned besides my Canon, you just push the button you do to take a picture to start the video recording. Well, not this camera. You have to push an entirely different button. So the entire time I thought I was taking a video, yeah I wasn't!
