How do I submit a room request?

You'd think, after the number of times I've stayed onsite, that I would know how to make a room request. Believe it or not, I've never needed to. Until now.

I'm somewhat mobility challenged for the first time and need to request a first-floor room (thanks to sage advice from those on the CBR thread). Stairs are one of my biggest challenges these days.

So -- how do I make the request? Do I call? (Who?) Do I fax the resort? (When?) Do I go through Orbitz (thanks to them for the extra discount)? Even though we booked third-party, I do have my Disney confirmation number, so I know that I can reference that.

Any guidance would be most gratefully received. Our stay is August 30-September 2nd.

The only way I know to do it is to call and ask them to add the request to your reservation.

When you check in just ask if any chance you got a 1st floor room and if not can I please get one? I find my requests are honored unless I arrive very late.

If you go to disney site and link your 11 digit reservation number to you then at 60 days you can check in . One one of the options should be 1st floor room. They also have a box to check that says 1st choice more important than getting a room early. So, if arriving early check this box and probably good. They only have 2 floors so you have a 50/50 chance without requesting.(assuming at CBR since you referenced that)

Based on your post, it sounds like a special needs issue (limited mobility/unable to use stairs). If so, you can call the Special Needs/Assistance Line directly at 407-939-7807. Explain the situation and they will help with your request.

Since you didn't book directly with Disney, there maybe some issue with looking you up in their system (i've heard, but have not experienced myself). Make sure you have your reservation number available. Contact Orbitz if you don't have a reservation number.

You should call and add the request to your reservation, and ask again at check-in if necessary. Avoid online check-in so they can rearrange room assignments when you arrive if needed.
