how do i rebook southwest after ding

what you do is cancel your existing reservation and rebook with the DING and apply the travel funds . . .BUT, I'm having an issue at this very moment because a ding came out, I cancelled my existing reservation and went to book the DING and its telling me there are no seats . . .I know it is a glitch, but now I'm on hold waiting to talk to someone . . . I currently do not have a flight home now and I'm in a panic!

First you need to have 2 SWA windows open. In the first window get your DING fare ready to purchase. In the second window, cancel your existing reservation. When you get your ticketless travel credits confirmed, go back to your first window and enter your old confirmation number under Ticketless Travel Funds and finish your reservation with the new DING fare.

Wish Upon a Star, I see you too are from CT, probably trying for the same ding. Let me know if you get seats! Now I am afraid to try.

its ok . . .I am on the phone with SW and they are trying to help me. They are stating that there are seats available for my flight and they have no idea why I am having trouble . .I just want my $90 ding! I"ll let you know what happens

I'm holding while she talks to tech support in Dallas . . .ugh . .. thankfully I have lots of unused minutes . . .LOL

they had to manually do it. The reason it took so long was because there weren't enough seats at the DING price, but I got the price because I was on the phone for over an hour trying

I just cancelled a flight to get the DING fare and got to the final purchase screen, and there were no flights available even though they still showed up when I clicked on DING......called SW - they reinstated my original flights - same confirmation number (at the original price, which was only $18 different, so I didn't argue). The rep tod me they are having trouble with the DING system. SO......... now is not the time to cancel a ressie and book a DING flight because you very well may not get it!!

FWIW -this is one reason that I will frequently book each of us on individual itineraries (or when DD was younger, I would put her with one of us, but do DH separately). Then what I would do is book the ding (and pay for it), then cancel the original, then use those credits to book the next ding. Of course, we go 2-3 times a years, so I've always been able to use up the end resulting credit.
Sometimes is also worthwhile to see what would happen if you wanted book 8 seats with the ding. Sometimes that give you an idea of "available" it really is.
There's have been times with the separate itineraries, that I've been able to get the ding rates for some but not for all.
