How do I purchase trip insurance?

We are planning a trip to Tahiti. We got the plane, resort, etc figured out. We want trip insurance. I googled and tons of companies came up. I'm overwhelmed. Since there are so few planes to our destination, we need to make sure we are coverd for a missed connection besides the usual coverage.

We are leaning to book air through Travalocity. We'll need to book the hotel separate. (Our return flight leaves 11 pm & we want to pay an extra nights room.) If I book the TI that comes up with the flight, does it cover the hotel, etc. as well?

I've never booked TI before.

I've booked travel insurance through insuremytrip.com. It was very easy. You put in all your info and then you can compare prices and coverage from different companies.

I assume you are paying with a credit card. Check to see what that covers and you may be able to purchase additional insurance just for what is not covered by the credit card company.
