How do I post photos for a Live Trip report

I read the boards a lot and have occasionally posted. We go in 2 weeks and 2 days (not counting or anything) and my daughter (11) is pestering me to do a live trip report! I will try to be 'brave' but I can't work out how to post photos? Can anybody help me?

If you don't already have one, sign up for a Photobucket account. The basic one is free and depending how many photos you post and how many views you have, it should see you through okay.

Once you have that set up, upload your photos to the account. Beneath each image is a drop down style box with various codes. If you look for the IMG code, you just need to click on that. Go back to your post on the DIS, and paste.

ETA: Meant to add, the basic account is free. They top up your bandwidth and allowance every month. If you find it is not enough for you and want to upgrade to Pro, which is unlimited, it costs $25 for a whole year.

I did a TR last year and was fine for the first few weeks then ran out of bandwidth. Eventually it was a case of bandwidth giving me only a couple of days in the end before it was at the limit so I just went Pro. I think maybe as there were a lot of pics and also, as you add more and more, people scroll through the thread to get to the last page they were at .... I don't know too much about it, but most people who I have seen comment have said that the regular account is more than adequate.

Resizing your pics before you post also helps

How many pics do you have on your account Lee? I have just looked at my account status, 1,512 pics uploaded, they are only using 5% and I post pics on multiple sites.

I have nowhere near as many as you do. It was a mystery really. I only upgraded because it was getting so frustrating as I would do one or two updates on my TR and then have to wait a few weeks to continue. I will check, although I went Pro on it in January so it won't really show how many I had at the time. I don't really know how it works in terms of bandwidth aside from the fact that viewing them uses some (?) My storage has always remained at a nominal percentage. It was the bandwidth that was the problem

Just checked mine and I have just under700 pics on there so less than half of what you do.

Mine doesn't show how much storage I have used as with Pro it is unlimited so when I upgraded it no longer showed stats for that. It is showing 512MB bandwidth at the moment which I am guessing would be for the current month (I had thought it was unlimited but it is still showing).

How how do the views affect your bandwidth? I understand that it is connected to how many times a page is opened containing images from the account but really don't know much else about it. I have 98,530 views and it looks like that is from January when I signed up to Pro. The only thing I can think of is that with my pics in my siggie, everytime a page is opened where I have posted on a thread, it uses some of the allowance

I decided to post my question on here as I have raised the question now and looks like it may be irrelevant to the OP so hopefully the answer to this will help avoid any confusion.

Just to let you know - I also used Photobucket (free) for my recent live trip report (and one I did last year).

Have just used it again tonight to upload a few more photos.
