How do I plan for a WL trip in Oct to catch MNSSHP?

Want to try WL for a long weekend in Oct 03 to catch Mickeys Halloween Party. Didnt want to go weekend of the 31st, thought maybe stretching out Columbus weekend. Any way to predict approx dates of party? Would WL be a good choice ( worried about transp issues) or should we stay at monorail resort? Me, DW and 4yo DS stayed at Poly last year and BC this year. Liked each for different reasons. How is the bus service from WL to BB?Ahh feels good to be planning again!

We checked in on the 14th of October last year and the MNSSHP was a couple of days later-they had several scheduled-I think they started the first part of October.

We stayed at WL and took the boat to the MK-never had a single problem, there always seemed to be a boat there when we needed one. Our kids loved the boat and it was just a short ride to MK-most of the time they didn't even stop at FW and went directly to MK.

Didn't really miss the monorail.

If you are going in October, I think the perfect place to stay is WL.
We walked out of our room, down the path and to the boat launch-on the night of MNSSHP there were about 10 kids all dressed up in costumes waiting to get on the boat-it was really cute.

I heard that Columbus Day weekend is a really busy time to go to WDW

I agree, we stayed at Wilderness for our MNSSHP and it was wonderful. The boat ride is great and seemed like always there. IMHO, Wilderness is the way to go. We are planning to stay there again in Oct. I also had heard that Columbus day weekend is busy, if at all possible try and avoid and go later in the month.

Thanks for the help. BB is blizzard beach. How do you know this far in advance, when the halloween parties will be? Does WL have a 24hr snack bar? How is the bus service?

We do not take the bus for anything. We drive to Animal Kingdom and take the boat to the monorail and so forth. as for as dates for MNSSHP they usually come out early to mid summer, keep an eye out on the boards they usually will tell you they are out.

If I recall, BB is a ways from WL by bus but we could have been on a busy route that day.

There is so much to do at the Lodge though.

The snack bar is open from 6am-midnight, I think.

Bus service was not bad for us-went to the BW and DD-you can also take a quick bus ride over to TTC and take the monorail if you are going somewhere where the monorail goes. We also just rode the monorail through the resorts a couple of times for fun.

Yes, the pool has a slide and they also have a children's wading pool.

I think you will enjoy the boat transportation over to MK

You can check on the disneyworld website for schedules on the MNSSHP-you can even buy tickets on the website-when it gets closer to October

Also, you can go early. Last year the party didn't start until 7pm and they were letting people in at 3:00 (so you basically get a whole day at the park if you wait and just enter with your MNSSHP tickets)

You could check out the last few years on Deb Will's site www.wdwig.com I think this year there were Halloween parties on most of the Fridays (may have heavier attendance then). We had a great time on the 25th even tho it poured buckets later in the evening. It was a lot of fun.
