Were arriving 10/31 pretty late at night (our flight lands at 815 pm so we’re figuring around 930 pm) and booked a room only just for the night. On 11/1 our “package” begins at the same resort. How do we request that we would like to just stay in the same room - of course pending availability to do so? (Both room only and package are same categoried room). I used the term “continuing reservation” and there was lots of confusion on the CMs part and despite my explaining the above she just didn’t understand. :confused3

Call back and hope you get a CM that knows what they're doing. What you tried to do is how it needs to be done to give you your best chance. The reservations need to be linked in their system as a continuing stay. We end up booking like this often and sometimes it takes 2 phone calls to get it done.

So the term continuing reservation is a term that’s commonly used? Wasn’t sure if I was just using terminology that wasn’t well known or what was going on. It was an odd exchange.

Yes it is. It's what I have used every time and once I started doing it this way we haven't had to switch rooms yet. Another good tip is once you check in for your room only, ask the Front Desk CM to check if you're able to stay in the same room for your package. They will be able to tell and it'll be much easier to remedy then if there's an issue than waiting until the next day.

Thank you so much!

If you have trouble making the request on the phone, ask if you can speak with someone in Guest Services. As dansdad suggested, make sure you personally speak with a front desk CM when you arrive and make the request again.

Agree with PPs. Another term you could use is making sure your reservations are linked, and have them note the request that you'd like to remain in the same room for your next reservation. We had a thorough CM on the phone handle this for us and she was able to cross-reference the confirmation numbers in the notes of each reservation.

Also, when you check in on night one, the front desk CM should be able to tell you if you can keep the same room the next day. If you do, you should be able to call to "check in" for your package without having to return to the front desk.
