I dont plan to use my phhone for the duration of our 7 night cruise, so will have it in airplane mode. However, on the last night, Castaway Cay, I need to make a single call to Sarasota Springs resort. What's the best, most cost effective way for me to do this?

Have someone else on land do it? LOL.

Which phone carrier do you have?
Verizon has an international pay as you go plan ($2 per minute) or a travel pass plan ($10/day of use). I don't know how it worked as we never used it when we were on the Dream.

Not sure how it works on Castaway Cay. Verizon says it offers coverage in the Bahamas, but do they only mean Nassau? Or all small Bahamian islands?

There is cell service on CC, provided by BTC. We have used it multiple times in the past, to send pictures and make calls.

If you activate your phone on that day, your roaming plan will apply. In my case, I would be charged 10 $ for the day, plus the long distance charges.

If it is a request, can that not be made in advance? Whenever they are made, requests are just that - they try, but cannot meet them all.

We have SSR booked for a week, fri-fri. Then later we booked our cruise which is sat-sat, so we'll be checking into SSR a day late. We've talked with SSR a few times, they've noted our reservation that we arrive Sat and say all is OK. But, to avoid any issues, I want to call SSR on friday, our checkin day, just to re-verify our late arrival. We are with Verizon, so will probably call them to see what we can arrange.

Ah, gotcha.

Verizon has Travel Pass (depending on your plan, it's free, but you have to activate it). It's basically whatever plan you have at home, for $10/day (so phone and texting presumably).

I've used it in the Bahamas (both Nassau and CC). I can't confirm that ALL of CC has service, but I have used it there. Don't know if it's the cheapest option, but it'd an option.

I also use the Verizon $10 a day feature. I’ve certainly used it, as I would normally at home, while at Castaway. I typically use it at each port … overseas as well and it’s been just $10 a day.
