How do I keep my windows from sticking shut?

I recently pried my windows open-they'd been painted shut. By doing so, a lot of the paint came off so I repainted them. I've been leaving them open so they'll dry thoroughly, but they still stick shut when closed for more than an hour. I can't leave my windows open all the time, it's too cold (and probably dangerous). Is there anything you know of that I can put on them so they open easier? I tried WD-40, but it didn't work and got all over the windows and made a big mess. I was thinking (don't laugh too hard) vaseline?

I tried to look online but mainly what I get when I do window searches is stuff about Microsoft! Thanks!
