With a little time, you'll get to know it like the back of your hand :rotfl:

So sad, but true. Can't decide which smilie fits better  or :rotfl2:

I'm enjoying the current sunshine and melting snow while I can. That's the thing about MI, you really appreciate those nice days! It is a beautiful place, though, especially teh west coast and teh UP.

Thanks, all! I'll look into the Florida ID card.

Weather here is pretty today in Michigan....I see signs of spring already. And the huge upside to our move is the great big beautiful house we were able to afford here....SoFla has gotten so expense, real estate wise, that we were able to double the size of our residence for about the same amount we sold the Florida house for...and it's a five minute walk to the lake.

Neighbors here are very friendly....guess everyone has to stick together for those snowy winters!!

Glad to hear it's going well! Do you want to share which lake? If it's Superior you should have gotten a GREAT deal on that house compared to so FL. ;)

A little warning. Appreciate this weather while it's here. We will have some minor setbacks before full fledged spring is really here.

Oh, we're not on one of the big lakes. We're on a small all sports lake that's just for the town. It's called Sylvan Lake, just north of Detroit.

We moved to Florida three years ago and they confiscated our Missouri DL's when we got the Florida one's. I remember wanting to keep it but they wouldn't let me. We still have our Missouri home and I was hoping to keep it so that our kids could chose between MO and FL for college and we wouldn't be hit with out-of-state tuition.

The home prices here in southwest prices are ridiculously high now. We bought our first home a year ago and it has gone up in value by $100,000 in that year. Not a bad investment considering it took 35 years for my parents home to go up in value only $65,000!! Alas, the property taxes are also rising.

What were you thinking!!!!!!!! :earseek:

Actually Michgian isn't too bad in May, June, July Aug, Sept, and Oct. It is all the other months that are a little harsh.

Just make sure to go "home" for a week a least every winter (or more) and you should be fine.

We have a pontoon boat that is on a Marina on Cass Lake that we spend a lot of time at during the summer months. (even though we live in Royal Oak.)

Welcome to Michgian, the weather can suck from time to time, but the people are nice. (This week isn't too bad, I think spring may be here, but it some times "leaves" for a few days.) It always comes back (or turns into summer eventually.)

You can see by my name that I consider myself a Florida girl. DH was born and raised in Michigan, tho he spent the past 20 years with me in sunny South Florida.

OK, so I have my Florida Identification card on it with my Florida address.
Geez, it's cold today in Michigan. When ever it gets below 20, it's bone chilling. THe good thing is, I can take my sweet time unloading the groceries, unlike Florida!

You may want to call the CM's there - but I believe you can show up at the tickets gates, etc with just a utility bill with the homes address and your names on it. You need to make sure both adults' names are on the bill, though. That may save you the time of getting the ID card the next time you go. I remember reading on the actual WDW website under their proof of residency info that a utility bill will work. Again - I'd call and verify it for yourself before you go - but it'd be easier than worrying about the card.......

Well, it now says on the web site that utility bills are a no go....and I already do have the ID card.

Oh bummer - thought that'd be so much easier. I couldn't find ANY info on the WDW site on what they require qhen I tried to look - I wonder where it's at.....? Although on Mousesavers.com, they still have the utlitity bill thing listed. I'm sure it just needs updated.
Bum again - now you'll have to make a stop before you hit the resort!

Jodi, You must come and visit us on the western side of Michigan, and see the sand dunes, which go from the southern border of Michigan(the Warren Dunes), up thu the Silver Lake Dunes(near Pentwater and Hart) , the Nordhouse Dunes(Ludington), and up to Traverse City and the Great Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes. Our lakeshore dunes are now protected, after years and years of trying to get rid of all that sand! You can go off-road at Silver Lake, and take the carferry at Ludington over to Wisconsin(where they don't have any sand) :)

Still, it boggles my mind that you actually moved here year-round! You know, my DD just continued sending her license in to Michigan every year to get it renewed for several years after she moved to Illinois, where the cost is in the $$$ for an IL driver's license. Why can't you do that in FL, too? You could be a year-round tourist in Michigan! ::yes::
