We will be on the June 2 (3-night cruise), and I was wondering if anyone knew how will we be able to iron onboard. If you know please tell me.

Any help would be appreciated.

There are irons available in each of the self-service laundry rooms, or you can send your clothes to be ironed for 1/2 the cost of regular laundry service. Definitely worth it for just a couple of items, especially on vacation, plus, they are very speedy!

hello,

There are three laundry rooms on each ship all that have an iron. The laundry rooms are on decks 2, 6, and 7. They get a little crowded right before dinner, so you might want to schedule your ironing at a different time. If not you will have to wait on line, but I always enjoyed talking to the people on the laundry room line. I have had many wonderful conversations there!

There are irons/ironing boards in the laundry rooms. Others just send there stuff to get pressed on the ship.

Travel irons are not permitted onboard....

This is from the DCL website.....

Is there laundry service?
Onboard laundry and dry-cleaning services (with stateroom pickup) are available for a charge. There is also a self-service Guest Laundry Room with coin-operated washers and dryers, along with detergent and ironing equipment. For safety reasons, the provided irons or steamers may be used in the laundry room only; personal irons cannot be brought aboard.

I want to make a suggestion if you iron in the laundry room....some have reported that the irons were not always the cleanest and left some marks on clothes....I would suggest just placing a towel between your garment and the iron to prevent this. I don't think this is a widespread problem, but better to be safe than sorry!!!

I have had the "dirty" iron problem once on the Wonder cruise. When I use a ship or hotel iron, I just iron all of the clothes inside out. If it leaves a mark, you won't be able to see it!

Are these steam irons or should we be sure to bring a squirt bottle with us?

Since I first read about them not allowing irons in the staterooms, I've always wondered why they're okay with ladies bringing curlers/irons...heck many women now use flat irons on their hair (esp. with all that ocean humidity!), and that seems like it could be just as dangerous. :rolleyes1

But shhhh...don't mention it to them, or they'd better be prepared for most women to look like Monica on Friends when she visited the Bahamas...POOF!

You mean the one time she looked good? :rotfl: I say ban them now!!!

Do yourself a big favor - as soon as you get unpacked, send out your items that need it to be pressed only by the laundry service on the ship. It's only half of what the drycleaning price is on the ticket. I had 2 men's shirts/pants, 1 dress, 1 skirt, 1 sweater, 1 blouse pressed and it was only $15 - saved me time and they were back the next day in time for formal night.

I concur....upon embarkation, I sent out 3 dress shirts to be pressed only..the cost was only $4.50...I knew that if I packed them in my garment bag thinking theyd be ready to wear, I'm sure theyd end up so wrinkled as if I'd slept in them....

Are the laundry rooms available 24 hours a day? If not, when are they available. :)

If I send them out early on embarkation day will I be able to get them back by dinner at 830om? Sending them out suonds like a winner but if we have our first dinner at Tritons then I will need my dressier outfit to wear.

Thanks!! :goodvibes

I'd like to know that too, since we are only on a 3 nighter. Sending them out would definately be preferable, but need to know if I will have to iron the first night's stuff myself. Thanks!

We (DH, DD 10 and me) are also on the June 2. Maybe I will run into you on the ship. We only have one more day!

I just got off the ship Sun. May 29th. It costs extra to have them back by 6:00pm on the same day. Not sure how much extra, but if I were you, I would make arrangements as soon as i get on the ship that day. The lines were long for ironing on the first day...and then you have the mandatory safety drill which I was late for as I was trying to get my clothes ironed for dinner at 6:00 that night. I did send out the rest of our ironing for the next 2 days and it was only about 16.00$.

So I guess the best answer is to make sure you have something that doesn't wrinkle for the first night? I'll have to check what we are taking, I certainly don't want to spend what little time I have on board standing in line to use an iron.... :sad2:

Here's a tip I got off of the boards last year. Press your items before you leave home. Then put each piece in a seperate drycleaning bag. When you get to the stateroom, hang them in your closet and they're ready to wear! This really works and saves a lot of time. Who wants to be in the laundryroom on vacation?

For cotton items, you can steam them while you take your shower. They come out nice and neat.
