We are returning to the world in Sept. this year and are planning to tour an AKV DVC unit. Do they even have model units open at the AKL or do you think they will have Kidani Village completed enough to have them there? Here I've been planning a whole day around being at AKL, doing a tour, having lunch at Mara, etc. and I don't even know if that's an option.:confused3 I know they have models at SSR, but that's not really what I want to see. I want the real thing!!! We've been debating buying into dvc since our trip last year and I am sold on AKV. I don't even care about the Contemporary. It would be nice to stay at on occasion but I love the atmospere at AKL so much better.:hippie: Also, if we want any perks with our tour what's the best way to go about arranging it?:confused3 Thanks all!

If you want to be guaranteed to see a AKV room, I'd suggest SSR Preview Center. We did an ADD ON while on the Magic 2 weeks ago, and thought we'd stop by AKV to preview the lodge and the rooms before hopping a plane back to Missouri. WRONG! We took a look around the lodge, then noticed the only DVC desk was the little kiosk there in the lobby. We explained to the CM that we had just made an ADD ON and wanted to view a room. She welcomed us home, congradulated us on our recent ADD ON, and then kindly explained that the rooms for viewing were at SSR. She did mention that when rooms are available (not occupied), they can show you some at AKV. However, all rooms were booked. Good luck with your decision. Let me know if you have any additional questions.

If the resort management wants to take their time to let you see a vacant room, then you may be in luck. We tried to see the various DVC resort rooms prior to becoming a member several years ago and the only resort that would let us see a room was VWL. We were told at the BCVs that we could see a room but that we had to wait for their runner person to return. After a hour wait we gave up.

Ya, we just recently purchased AKVs and we did our tour at SSR, We signed up with one of the DVC booths in Downtown Disney for the tour.
