How do I get "up graded?"

We are going to be staying at the Disney Paradise Pier Hotel. We booked a standard room. How do we go about possibly getting up graded? Do we ask? Who?When?
Please help!!

I wouldn't worry too much about an upgrade. All the rooms there are very basic.

Just be very nice and smile sweetly when checking in and ask "any chance you could upgrade our room" . If they have them availble they will give them to you

When were stayed at PP last March, for our ds's b-day (he was 5), were were upgraded to a park view of DCA, which was nice.

The CM working the desk also had balloons blown up and autographed pictures of Mickey & Goofy, and the Toy Story guys, and princess for my dd, that were personalized!

She had asked for their names (I assumed it was because we bought passes at the desk) When it took awhile to check in, I was wondering, thinking their computers were darn slow, and she came out with these surprises!

We had even booked the rooms through expedia, at a great discount!
