How do I get to an 8:00 a.m. character breakfast?

We are staying at the Wilderness Lodge in December and have scheduled an 8:00 a.m. character breakfast in the AK. We will not have a rental car. Since the buses don't start running until 1 hour before the parks open and AK doesn't open until 9:00, what are my options?

I was considering taking a cab.

Also, we will be going to the Luau at the Polynesian that evening. What is the best way to get from AK to Polynesian and how long will it take. We need to be there by 5:00. Should I again consider taking a cab to save time and to make sure we arrive on time?

This is our first trip and I need all the help I can get.

We have ps at Chef Mickey's for Christmas morning. I was told they run buses just for the character breakfasts that are scheduled early. I can't help with the transportation from AKL, but I'm sure someone else will know.
