We will be staying at ASMO in Sept. We want to have dinner one night at Trails End Buffet. Can someone please advise me as to the best way to get there. We will have a 7,6 and 3 year old with us :D

my best bet would be...
that if the parks are open...take the first park bus to come...
then at the park get in line for FW....

If the parks are closed when your done..you'll need to take the bus to DTD then from there get on a bus to your resort...

If you have a car I suggest you drive and if you are worried about a long trip via bus then I would even suggest getting a cab.

I am not entirely sure about this but I believe you will need to either:

1) take the bus from All Stars to Downtown Disney, take a bus from DD to Wilderness Lodge, and then take an internal Ft. Wilderness bus from Wilderness Lodge to Ft. Wilderness.

2) take a bus from the All Stars to Downtown Disney, take a bus from DD to the TTC, take the Ft. Wilderness bus from the TTC

Someone may be able to correct me but I think it is still pretty long. :)

Take a cab- it won't cost that much. You'll get there quicker without all of the changing and when you are ready to get that 3 year old back to the resort - you get there without any hassle and everyone will be so happy!!!!!!!!!!

If Magic Kingdom is open both at the time you are going and the time you are returning, the easiest way to get there is to go to Magic Kingdom and then take the boat to Ft. Wilderness. The walk from the boat dock to Trail's End is very short.

If you are going when MK is closed, it is a little more time consuming. If you have a car, you can drive to the front parking lot of Ft. Wilderness and park. ( Note, you will NOT be allowed to drive into Fort Wilderness. ) You can then take the internal bus back to the bus stop near Pioneer Hall. The Trail's End is connected to Pioneer Hall. Then after dinner, you return the same way to the front parking lot. A taxi would have to drop you off at the same parking lot. So you would still have to take the internal bus and then return by bus for another taxi ride.

You can also take the Ft. Wilderness transportion from any other park or Downtown Disney. But realize that this will be time consuming.

Maybe it would be to your advantage to make sure that you go to Trail's End when Magic Kingdom is open.

Driving a car or taking a cab won't get you there. You will end up at the Outpost Depot and will still have to take an internal bus to the Settlement Depot where Trail's End is.

Your best bet is if the MK is still open:
Take a bus to MK and transfer to the FW boat. It will drop you off at the marina which is right behind Trail's End. Then when you finish, reverse the route back to ASMo.

If the MK is closed, take the bus to MGM and transfer to the FW bus there. The MGM bus will drop you off right at the Settlement Depot.

If both MK and MGM are closed, you can go to either Epcot or DTD and transfer to the FW bus. But either of these buses will let you off at the Outpost Depot and you will still have to catch an internal bus to get to the Settlement Depot.

Confused now? ;)

I am sorry - you can take a cab from any WDW resort to any other resort - front door to front door. We have done it many times.

I am sorry, but you are wrong. You cannot take a taxi to the Settlement Outpost/Pioneer Hall area of Fort Wilderness. NO outside vehicles are allowed in that area.

If you want to call the Outpost (front parking lot) of Fort Wilderness as the "Front Door", then you can take a taxi. But you will still have to transfer to an Internal Bus to get to the Pioneer Hall/Trail's End area of the campground.

LadyLt & GoldenOldie:
I am certain that both of you are correct. I apologize. I had WL in my mind not FW. Sorry

No offense taken here, uncle al. I've certainly misread my share of posts over the years. You don't have a monopoly on it. :)

A bus to the MK then a boat to FW is easiest. A bus to EPCOT and a mono rail to the Contemporary and a boat to the FW is next. It also gives The kids an extra mono ride they love those. The boat is the easiest option it is closeset no need for the whole internal external loop nightmare.

Thanks all for the advise. It seems the best way to get there is from MK......I was all excited.......then I remembered we have DGS birthday cruise booked for the night we will be in MK:rolleyes: Don't know if I want to "saddle up" and ride the busses to get to the Trails End and eat the buffet or just settle for "hard tack" in the ASMO food court :p
