One of the most budget-minded trips I've ever seen is chronicled in this old thread:

Just some quick budgeting thoughts
  • Go during Value Season
  • Stay offsite.
  • Buy non-expiring tickets with the most number of days that you can afford at the time. Get them from a discount ticketbroker after shopping around for a good price. Split their use between 2 or 3 trips.
  • Drive instead of flying.
  • Bring snacks and water bottles into the parks.
  • Prepare/eat your large meals back at your room if you have cooking facilities.
  • Take-out is cheaper than sitdown b/c you don't feel the need to tack on a gratuity.
  • If you're going to do a sitdown meal, lunches are cheaper than dinners.
  • There's no shame in splitting meals, desserts or appetizers between people. And if you have a small appetite, go ahead and order a kid's meal.
Good luck with your planning. You'll get a lot of great suggestions here.
