We repainted our bedroom and dressing area using old paint. The paint didn't smell when we used it, but now, especially on hot days it smells awful. It smells like garlic is the best way I can describe it. I'm wondering if I just paint over it using new paint if that would get rid of the smell. Anyone ever have this problem? Any suggestions?

I've never heard of it before, but first why don't you try something benign like a dish or bowl of coffee beans, along w/ as much airing out of the space as you can?

I guess if it turns out repainting is necessary, I'd first use Kilz to make sure the odor doesn't return.

If you do end up repainting, add a little vanilla extract to the paint. It cuts the paint smell and doesn't change the color at all.

The area painted is my bedroom and dressing area so I don't think the coffee thing will work. I have 2 jars of odor removing stuff which help. Someone said since the paint was old it may have been moldy but I think we would have realized it when we opened the paint. After we mixed it is looked fine.

I was going to suggest this as well. If the room is already painted I would put saucers of vanilla in a couple spots in the room. It will absorb the smell.
