:flower3: Hi all!!! My name is lucy and this is the first time i have discovered and used the Disboards!!! My husband Lee and i will have been married for 2 years this July coming up and we would have loved for our honeymoon to have been at Disney World. At the time, we didnt have a great deal of money so it never came to be, but now we are finally planning to go for 15 days in October this year! YAY! :woohoo:

However, this will be my 3rd time in Florida, my last time was 8 years ago, just in the first few months i had met Lee. By the time i met him, the trip was all planned and so he didnt come, therefore, this will be his first time. My problem is, that no matter what i do, i can't get him excited at all!!!!! :confused3

I have been through the website with him, shown him the dvd, watched loads of videos on Youtube, shown him the disboards, shown him my photos of my previous trips and still i cannot excite him!!!!

Don't get me wrong, he is pleased we're going, but he still thinks its going to be like a trip to alton towers!!!

I guess you can't really convey the magic that comes with Disney until you've seen it for yourself!!!

Its sooo hard to be the only one in the house excited to be going!!! i have to restrain myself many times when we discuss it!!!

anyone else got this problem!!!!!

WOW, 15 days and his first trip. . .make sure you plan lots of adult outings. . .(i.e.; nice adult dinners, Jellyrolls, World Showcase, etc. . .)

First off, he probably won't get excited till you get there. Contain your excitement a bit and just be happy he is willing to go and happy to go. Make your plans and plan a few "surprises" for him. Say, a gift basket with champagne if you drink, or maybe if you don't some nice snacks that he would surely love. "Send" him a card or two a couple weeks before the trip giving him hints about stuff you are doing. If you are staying onsite plan a relaxing resort day. What kind of stuff does he like to do? - does he golf? Plan him a golf outing, does he like Cirque shows? - go see La Nouba.

Since this is his first time, plan the trip around stuff he likes to do and "surprise" him. He is a guy so likely he won't be excited till he gets there and see how happy you are. Your trip is still a ways off. Its a great time of year to go as the weather is usually wonderful. Just continue your planning and always put his thoughts ahead of your own when deciding on things to do. Most likely he will start to get excited a couple weeks before the trip. Make your trip as "adult" as humanly possible and you will see the childlike side of him come out soon after you get there.

Have you checked his pulse to make sure he is alive? :rotfl2: Believe it or not there are people that just do not get excited about Disney. :confused3 I don't know how (if) they ever find happiness. For your sake once he experiences Disney hopefully he "gets it" :yay:. Otherwise, you have my sympathy.:guilty:

Also where are you staying? Disney property is more exciting then outside of the property. IMO.

Wow. Um. Gee. Oh, wait...you mean excited about Disney!?!:lmao: My dh and I went to WDW for our honeymoon last Aug. I was worried he wouldn't like it, since he had never been and I am a Dis-freak! Anyway, pay attention to his pace. I was worried dh would think WDW was about expensive stuff, crowds, and lines! Luckily, he fell in love (not quite as much as I do...yet!) with WDW! Good luck.

If he's anything like me, I get sticker shock. To stop this from occuring, you have to plan ahead. We've gone 42 times now and our secret is to make a grocery stop, or order groceries from a delivery service. I like to drink beer, plain and simple and after paying Disney's 5.50 a bottle, lay in our supplies in route. We hit the grocery store and get: salami, ham, cheeses, chips, olives, buns, crackers, pop, beer and wine, and some Jack Daniels. We set our our own concierge area in our room and easily load up the fridge, then we load up the small cooler, make pool picnic sandwiches and head to the pool. Nothing beats a homemade sandwich after a few days of Disney food, same for drinks, I can spend many an hour at the pool with my cooler full of beer and laugh at others paying Disney prices at the pool bar. It's one of the ways it keeps me coming back, cut down on the items I can get cheaper, we won't down grade our resort, WL is still our favorite but that price I know going in, having the munchies and seeing Disney's prices shocks me. Keep the guy happy and get some of his favorite libations, give him freedom to lounge around the pool and relax, he'll want to come back if the vacation is just that, a relaxing vacation. Next trip he'll be excited, knowing that Disney is unique, fun and relaxing and food and drink won't break his bank.

:welcome: to the DIS!

It took my husband a few years and he still doesn't act like me - but deep down I see him get all excited right before he leaves. He just doesn't show it till then. Ask him what things he wants to do and see if he will at least help you make dining ressies and things like that. Good luck.

Thankyou all for your suggestions! i agree that i should probably tone things down a bit here at home, otherwise he'll be sick of disney before we've even got there!!!
we are not going alone, we are with 8 other people (family) renting a villa near to WDW but we a going to Discovery Cove on our own for a dolphin experience. I have done this before and loved it so i hope we can spend some quality time together that day without the family. I know all the guys are planning to go golfing so thats another thing for him to be excited about!
i will just have to contain myself now and wait until nearer the time (its taking forever to come around!) Thanks again all! lucy xxx

You dont- some men just cant express that. (I have one of those.) We go on two trips a year and to this day he still does not get excited-- at least he doesnt show it.
I have learned to tone it down and not explain so much to him. (he cant complain either- one time he did I I told him until he inputs information he cant justify his complaint with me.

We are going to Aruba in Sept and still not excited. I tried showing him menus for places to eat. (he says just pick the place and will be there)

Even on the way to the airport its like a trip to the port. (I cant stand it :rotfl::rotfl:

Does he like to fish? Book a fishing excursion on property for you both. My husband loves it and it helps give him something he loves to do to look forward to. :goodvibes
